Chapter 215
He grabs a light and starts checking Austin’s eyes. I’m not sure what he is hoping to find, but he apparently found it because he smiles and looks at me. “I think he will be waking up sooner, rather than later, Mrs. Willis.”
This time I’m smiling. He is going to come back to me. We can go home and start living our lives happily. ‘Roxie, how is Cronos doing?”
‘He’s getting stronger. He is trying to wake Austin up, but he is still weak from the silver, Rebs. He is recovering better after the serum though.’
“Dr. Moreno, thank you. I feel like we are preventing you from resting.”
“I had a yearlong sabbatical. I had plenty of rest during that time.” He said.
“Stefan told me that you are from the coast. Tropical side of the southeastern region.”
“Yes. I was born and raised there.” He said while continuing to look over monitors.
“What made you come to the central region? It’s a long way from home.”
“Where I grew up, wasn’t much of a home. It was more like a business. I decided a change in venue was in order.”
How interesting. He said a lot without saying anything. I remember doing the same thing when I first met Austin. It can only mean his family life must have really sucked. Either way, I feel indebted to him for saving Austin’s life. He is making sure the love of my life doesn’t go anywhere.
“Well, I’m glad you are here. I don’t know if my mate would have survived or recovered otherwise.”
“It’s my job to treat the sick and injured. Your mate was both.”
“Still, we are indebted to you. We are expecting our third pup, and I would like him very much to be around for them. If ever there is a time, we can help you with anything, please let us know.”
He looks at me pensively, “If that day ever arises, I’ll be sure to reach out. What pack are you both from?”
“Blackstone in the southwestern region. Austin is the Alpha.”
“That makes you, his Luna.” He says.
“Yes. It does. But all I care about is my mate. Not that he is an Alpha. He is the father of my pups and the love of my life. I have been holding my breath since he was loaded in the ambulance yesterday.”
“Well, breathe easy now. You should be sitting. How far along are you?”
“Close to six weeks.”
He raises an eyebrow at me, “Sit. Have you eaten today?”
“I had breakfast.” I say as I sit.
“I’ll have lunch brought for you.”

“Thank you.”
“Hmm.” He says as he walks out of the room.
As soon as he leaves, Jessup mind links me, ‘Luna, your grandparents have been discharged, and they are coming up to see you. Your grandfather is hilariously stubborn. He doesn’t want to be pushed around in a wheelchair.’
I laugh inwardly. “Thank you for letting me know Jessup. You and Jane go get some rest. Thank you again.’
I feel like I’m constantly saying thank you right now. But how can I not be thankful? My grandfather is alive and well, Morgana is behind bars, Dr. Moreno said Austin will be awake soon, and the last of our threats are gone. I’m so thankful to the Moon Goddess right now.
After a few minutes, I heard another knock at the door. My grandparents come in and I hug them both.
