Chapter 230

Austin POV

I have my daughter in my arms. She is perfect. She has all her fingers and toes. Her hair is black like Rebel’s. Her eyes are like mine, I think. She gave me a small smile, and she has the cutest dimples I’ve ever seen. She yawns and I kiss her forehead. Rebel has made me a father once again, and I could be more in love with her and our daughter.

Then chaos erupted. Rebel’s monitors go on the fritz, sounding all kinds of alarms. I look at Rebel, and she has become pale and has passed out.

“REBEL!”

She’s passed out and looks pale. I’m looking at Dr. Hadley and Dr. Moreno, “WHAT’S WRONG?! WHY ISN’T SHE WAKING UP?!”

Dr. Moreno and Dr. Hadley start speaking in some kind of medical language. I heard excessive bleeding. I’m panicking. One of the three nurses in the room takes Rory from me. She asks me to step outside.

“I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE! WHAT’S WRONG WITH MY MATE?” I screamed.

Dr. Hadley then whips her head to me, “GET HIM OUT OF HERE, NOW!”

Dr. Moreno comes over to me, “Alpha, let us do our job. Luna will be okay. Please step outside. I promise will we explain everything as soon as we have her stable.”

My eyes are stinging with tears. Fear like I have never known has my heart in a vice, and I don’t know what is happening. I only heard excessive bleeding. Is she bleeding out? Is she internally bleeding? Is she…NO! I will not think about that…she is my strong mate. She isn’t weak. She is going to be okay.

‘Austin, dear, how is Rebel?’ My mom mind links me.

‘MOM! SOMETHING IS WRONG! THE DOCTOR’S THREW ME OUT OF THE ROOM. SHE PASSED OUT AND THE

MACHINES WERE GOING CRAZY!’

‘I’m on my way. I’m bringing Renz and Lacey.’ She closed the mind link and within ten minutes they were at the hospital. It usually takes fifteen minutes to get here, so I know Renz was burning rubber.

When they walk in with Lacey, who is almost due herself, they see me and rush to my side. “What have you heard?” My mom asks.

“Nothing. I’m waiting.” I said, “She was in labor for fifteen hours and then delivered quickly. I was pushing my and Crono’s strength through the mate bond to help her. She was exhausted. Then after she delivered, I was looking at our daughter; she is beautiful by the way, then the machines started blaring and sounding alarms.”

“Oh, my Goddess. What did the doctor’s say while you were in there, Alpha?” Lacey asked with tears in her eyes.

“I couldn’t understand what they were saying. After she passed out, she became really pale and I was in shock. I heard excessive bleeding.”

“Well then, we wait to hear from the doctor’s, Austin.” My mom says and then tells Lacey to sit with her, since she is pregnant.

Renz comes up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder, “First, congratulations on your daughter, Austin. She is a blessing.” He begins, “Second, Rebel is strong, man. She is going to come through fine. You will see. Moon Goddess didn’t make you wait twelve years and go through all the bullshit you two have been through, to only get a year with each other, Austin. She’s gonna be alright. You’ll see.”

“Thanks man. I feel like it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten her pregnant so quickly right after giving birth to the twins.”

“Do you think Rebel would let you take the blame? She wouldn’t blame you for this at all, Austin. She would probably be pissed off to hear you talking negatively about yourself, if I’m being honest. I see how she loves you man. For Rebel, her entire world rises and sets with you man. So, when she wakes up, and she will, don’t let her see you acting this way.” Renz says.

I give Renz a hug, “Thank you, man. I’m glad you are here. You have been my best friend since childhood, and your loyalty has meant so much to me.”

“Man, we are practically family. If any of our kids are mated to one another, then we will be family. I’m looking forward to that day, too. Rebel and Lacey will be over the moon setting up Luna Ceremonies and birthday parties and all that female shit.” He said, laughing.

Just then, Jessup and Jane walk in and find us. They give me a hug and it’s awkward. We are happy about Rory and terrified waiting for the doctors to come out and tell us about Rebel. We are all waiting for news.

“The entire pack is praying to the Moon Goddess for Rebel’s recovery.” Jessup said.

“The pack loves her just as much as we do, Alpha.” Jane says.

“Thank you, guys, for being here.” I said, as I pace. It’s been forty-five minutes. I am about to burst through the door when Dr. Moreno and then Dr. Hadley come out, followed by the nurses.

“Alpha,” Dr. Moreno comes over, and Dr. Hadley is right behind him.

“How is Rebel?”

“She’s stable. She had excessive bleeding due to a uterine tear.” Dr. Hadley said.

“What the hell does that mean?”

“Well, it means that during delivery, her uterus lining torn. It could have some from your daughter’s nails. She has longer nails than normal and they are stiffer than usual. Actually, it’s highly unusual.” Dr. Moreno said.

Dr. Hadley continued, “Because of the tear, she was bleeding internally. We were trying to locate and stop the bleeding before it became critical. Luckily, we found it on time, and we were able to repair the damage and stop the bleeding.”

“So, she is going to be okay then?” I said, holding my breath.

“Well, additional pregnancies in the future wouldn’t be recommended for now, but yes. She is going to be fine. She is still unconscious from the blood loss, and we have a bag of blood being administered to her now. You can go in and see her. Your daughter is also sleeping. She is a beautiful little pup. By the way, she was eight pounds and three ounces. She’s a chunky girl. Makes her even more adorable. Congratulations, Alpha.” Dr. Hadley
