His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 231

Chapter 231

Rebel POV

I feel groggy and weak. I hear beeping monitors beside me. Roxie is telling me to get up and open my eyes.

‘Roxie, what happened?’

‘We almost died giving birth to our daughter. You have to get up now, Rebs.’

My daughter. I haven’t seen my daughter. Is she okay? I force my eyes open. I’m in another white room with white sterile lights. I know I’m in the hospital, but still, these rooms feel so cold.

I look around me and I see Austin, laying down on the couch with his shirt off. He has Rory on his chest, and they are taking a nap together. Bare skin to bare skin; they look picture perfect. I stay quiet and take in the picture in front of me.

This is my peace. This is my happiness. Our family, our pups, and our lives. I’ve never been happier. I don’t know what happened to me though. Why am I only just waking up and why was I out to begin with? I hear Rory move and grunt a little, and Austin wakes up to rub her back. My heart is turning into a sopping mess at the cuteness overload I’m witnessing.

Then Austin looks over to me and when he realizes I’m awake, I see him smile and he gently sits up, careful not to wake up our daughter. Then he brings her to me.

“Darling, I’m so glad you are awake. You had me so worried.” He said; his eyes are tight with worry that seems to be loosening.

“She’s perfect, Austin.” I say, “What happened? I remember giving birth and then everything went black. How long was I asleep?”

“It’s been two days, Rebel.” He said.

“Two days? Why?” I’m confused. I was giving birth, not recovering from an injury.

“Our daughter is stronger than normal nails for a newborn. She tore you inside and you lost a lot of blood. Dr. Hadley and Dr. Moreno had to locate the bleeding to stop it. They found it in time, and they administered blood to you.” He said, and I see his eyes filled with unshed tears, “I thought you were going to leave me, Rebel. I have never known fear like that before. You almost died. I would move the Moon Goddess’ realm to never feel like that

again.”

I almost died? From giving birth? No wonder I was knocked out. “Austin, my love, you can’t get rid of me that easily.” I said teasing.

“I don’t want you going anywhere, darling.”

“Well, I could use some water and a bathroom. Then I want to hold and nurse our daughter. She is adorable, my love.” I said, as I rang the nurse’s bell.

“Let me put her in the bassinet right now. I’ll get you some water. I mind linked Dr. Hadley that you are awake already.”

As Austin moves around the room, I notice that his body looks tight. He has been riddled with worry. My poor

mate. I don’t have time to dwell on it long though because Dr. Hadley and Dr. Moreno both come into the room.

“Welcome back, Luna. How are you feeling?” Dr. Hadley asked me.

“Thank you, Dr. Hadley. I need to use the bathroom, otherwise I feel okay.” I said.

Dr. Moreno then asks, “What about your wolf, is she still with you?”

“Yes. She was the one urging me to wake up again.”

“Very good.” Dr. Hadley said, while Austin brought me water. “Let’s get you up and to the bathroom and then we can have a discussion.”

“Sure thing, docs.”

After getting the assistance of helping unhook me and going to the bathroom, I wash my hands and meet Austin, Dr. Hadley and Dr. Moreno. I sit on the bed. Austin sits beside me, wrapping his arm around my waist and kissing my forehead. “Right, so you wanted to have a discussion?”
