His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 278

Chapter 278

Aiden POV

“I don’t know.”

Thalia chimes in, “I think she is telling the truth. She seemed offended and even hurt that you thought so bad of her. Has she ever caused trouble before?”

“Never.”

“I think someone was using her to get to you.” Thalia added. But her attitude was so calm it made me wonder if she cared whether or not I was drugged.

“What makes you say that?” I asked.

“Experience.” She said and her eyes looked sad. It makes me wonder what she has gone through.

“Care to elaborate?” Isaiah asked.

“My father was using me to get close to the Reyes family. He wanted something from them and was using me to get close to them. It’s another reason I was refusing to marry Armando.” She said.

“What was your father after?” I asked.

“The Reyes ports. The Moreno’s own half the ports and the Reyes own the other half. My father wanted to force me into the marriage so he could take over all the ports.”

I feel anger rising in my chest. Leon is growling in my head. The fact that any father would use their own kid as a pawn for power is disgusting. “Well, he won’t get that chance again. You and your sister will be protected here, Mojito.” I said.

She smiles lightly and nods slightly. “Are we done here? I need to get my knives. I have a date with your siblings.” She smirked.

“Then you have a date with me.” I said. I hadn’t thought about a date because she just got here and I wasn’t sure how she might react if I asked, so I’m taking charge and just letting her know we are going on one.

She smiled at me, “A date?”

“Yeah. A date.”

She shakes her head and blushes, “Okay. But first, knife show.’

Isaiah chuckles, “I’m going to set up an obstacle course at the training center. I really want to see how good you are, sis. I know Rory wouldn’t want to miss it either.”

“I think Mom and Dad might want to see too.” I said.

“Okay. Then I should go get my bag. Um, I’m still learning my way around here. Will you come with me?” She asked.

“Of course.” I look at Isaiah, “We will meet at the training center in thirty minutes.”

“You got it.” He said as he left the office.

I turned to my mate. I reached my hand out to her. I am desperate to kiss her again, so I pull her towards me. I wrap my arm around her. She doesn’t stiffen at my touch anymore. It’s making me hopeful. She places her hands on my arms again and leans into my embrace.

“I want to kiss you.” I tell her, so she doesn’t pull away.

I lean in and press my lips to hers. I am feeling great that she is giving into my kiss. I deepen it once again and this time I wrap my other arm around her. I growl approvingly as she slowly moves her arms around my neck. She is finally starting to

trust me.

I would never hurt her, so her trust meant everything. After a minute, I pulled back gently and pressed my forehead to hers. I inhale her scent and it’s making Leon and me calm and dizzy. “We should go get your things and head to the training grounds.” I said.

Her cheeks are flushed and her lips are puffy. She is so fucking beautiful. I am using a lot of restraint to not take her in my office. When she steps back, I immediately miss her body against mine.

“Let’s go.” She said shyly.

Thalia POV

I like the way Aiden kisses me. He’s gentle but strong. I like him holding me too. Plus, he smells good. The black cedar and leather are really inviting and masculine. It feels safe. I have never felt safe before. I’ve always felt on edge. There is a small part of me that wants to give my fears to Aiden and let him take them away from me. But that is selfish. I can’t do that to him when he has an entire pack to run. Hell, someone just tried to drug him. I need to handle my problems by myself and not add

to his stress.

We go to the room, and I go into the closet. I grab my duffel bag and sling it over my shoulder. Aiden raises and eyebrow at me, “I’ll take that. You don’t need to shoulder everything on your own you know.” He says as he takes the bag from me and slings it over his shoulder. His statement sounded like a double meaning, but I brush it off. I won’t add to his problems.

My mouth goes dry when I see his arms flex under his shirt sleeves. I think I’m staring too long because he chuckles, “Did you see something you liked, Mojito?”

I feel my cheeks heat. “Um, no. Let’s go.” I said.

“You’re lying, but that’s okay. I think I get an idea of what you liked.” He said cockily.
