His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 280

Chapter 280

Diego POV

Ever since Armando showed me the footage and told me how he suspected my two ungrateful brats for daughters escaped, I have been going through all of their possessions and accounts and everything looking for any trace of them. I have not found anything though. Not one shred of evidence to point me in the right direction. They thoroughly erased themselves from existence.

I will find them though. I will find them and drag their sorry asses back here. It has been one month since they disappeared, and things have only gotten strained with the Reyes. Don Arnaldo has been more demanding and it’s making it hard for me to juggle his demands while juggling all of the family businesses. If not for Thalia and Mia’s disappearance, I could have married off Thalia and found a suitable husband for Mia.

Thalia has been nothing but trouble since the day she was born. I should have left Blanca right then and there. I can’t trust the DNA results. I still believe she is Raul’s daughter and not mine. I know Blanca cheated on me. I may not be able to prove it because they covered their tracks well, but I know they slept together.

They were always too close. Raul was always against the marriage too. I’m sure he wanted to take Blanca from me. After his first mate died and he decided to go to a different region, I sure as hell didn’t stop him. I only asked him to come to the wedding so he could see he lost what was never his to begin with. But shortly after Blanca and I got married, she became pregnant. It seemed like she became pregnant too quickly. Since then, I have suspected that she slept with my brother and got pregnant before the wedding. Goddess knows she wasn’t a virgin before the wedding. I was her first and I should have been her only.

What no one seems to understand is I just wanted to get rid of Thalia so I could focus on making Mia strong. I was hoping she could take over the family business one day, instead of Rodrigo. That boy is dumber than a box of rocks. I wanted to leave things ready for him to take over, but over the last year, I have been rethinking that strategy. He killed his own wolf like an idiot. He is always screwing up the smallest tasks. I have to constantly clean up his messes. He thinks everything is going to be handed to him. Really, I wanted to have Rodrigo and Mia compete for the position.

Mia wanting to become a doctor would mess up my plan. Yes, she is smart and could be the greatest doctor out there, but that doesn’t help me. I want to retire from this life and live comfortably while my heir continues the family business. I know that Rodrigo will screw it up. Because I know he would lose on a competitive stage, it would be easy for me to give it to Mia.

But now, I have to hunt and retrieve my two daughters. I will tie Thalia down to a fucking chair and make her accept Armando when the time comes. Then Mia will come under my wing, and I will force her to learn the business before starting the competition with her brother. Once everything is back on track, I will feel like I can breathe again.

Thalia POV

This past month has been the best I’ve had. No pressure from my father. No putting myself in dangerous situations. No arguments with my brother. No harassment from Armando. No having to watch over my shoulder, take jobs, or feel suffocated.

Aiden has been the kindest and sweetest. He likes stealing kisses from me. I let him because I am not afraid of him. I can’t be intimate yet, I still get nervous about that, but he never pushes me. He is patient with me, and I’ve started opening up a little to him. I still haven’t told him about my trauma, but I have told him about funny stories from when I was younger. I’ve told him about some of the jobs I took. He almost looked pale when he heard about some of the ways I had to execute my targets. It was a paid hit and I was paid extra.

When Aiden asked why I took the jobs, I told him the truth. I wanted to get away from my father. But I also explained to him that he wasn’t going to let Mia go to medical school to become a doctor. He was going to bury her and then create another marriage alliance to strengthen the family business further. That’s why I changed my strategy.

“Mia still wants to go to medical school, right?” Aiden asked.

“Yes, and I saved enough to put her through med school.” I said.

“From your jobs?” Aiden asked.

“Yeah.” I said.

“How much?”

“Almost a million.”

“Shit Thalia. I can’t believe you put yourself through that kind of danger to make that kind of money.” He said.

“Do you think less of me?” I asked nervously.

“Never. I’ve had to kill people too, Thalia. I hate doing it, but sometimes it’s

necessary.”

“It may have not been necessary for me, but I always think about how many lives were saved by me killing the ones I was hired to get rid of.”

“Then I think you did a lot of would-be victims a favor. It also explains why you are so good at the training center.” He said. “But I have seen you with your sister. You’ve been showing her how to dance.”

“Yeah, she turns eighteen in a couple of weeks. I figured if she gets her wolf and meets her mate, which is still a foreign thing for her to understand, then maybe they would share a dance. She should know a couple of moves.” I said.

“Yet, you don’t dance with me. I’m jealous.” Aiden said, smiling. Then he leans over and gives me a kiss.
