Isaiah POV

I’m looking at Niall. He looks like he is trying to keep his nerves at bay. I’m sure it’s intimidating for him to be in my office and have two betas flanking him. I put the guy out of his misery, though.

“As you know, we have been evaluating warriors for Lead Warrior and Gamma.”

His eyes widened, and he looked at Aric and Adrian and then back at me. Now he is fidgeting in his seat. “Ye…yes, Alpha.”

“Tell me, what do you think of Brent and Sloane?” I asked. I did it on purpose to fuck with the guy. He doesn’t need to know just yet. Adrian’s lips are twitching, and Aric’s eyes are full of amusement.

Poor Niall, though. The light seemed to extinguish from his eyes a little. It’s okay, they will light back up in a minute.

“Both are excellent warriors and would be great additions to the ranked team, Alpha,” he said politely.

“Great. I will have them brought into my office shortly and offer them the Lead Warrior roles.”

Niall’s head cocked to the side. “Roles?”

“Yes. We want to make them lead warriors. We couldn’t make a final decision without asking our future Gamma his opinion,” I smirked.

“Future Gamma? You mean, you want to make me Gamma?” he asked.

The three of us smiled and chuckled. “Well, yeah. Do you want the job?”

Niall practically launched himself from his seat. His eyes were full of happiness, and a huge smile spread across his face. “Yes! Yes, I want it, Alpha Isaiah. I won’t let you guys down, I swear!”

“Very good. I’m glad to hear it. It won’t be easy, and this pack has a lot to fix. After Adrian leaves, it will fall on the three of us to run this pack and to keep the warriors in line, Niall.”

“I can do it, Alpha. Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity.”

“You earned it, Niall. Well done,” I said. “Now, I need to call in Brent and Sloane. I wanted you to be here first and see them both be offered to the position as a united, ranked team.”

I mind-linked Sloane and Brent to come to my office, and while we waited, I started talking to Aric about my upcoming departure and planning a ceremony for Niall to be accepted at the Gamma. Niall is unmated, so if he finds his mate, then she will be the Gamma female. Aric still hasn’t found his mate either. Who knows what will happen there?

After a few minutes, both Brent and Sloane come in. “Welcome, guys, time for the hot seat. Please be seated.”

Both of them looked scared, but they noticed Aric and Niall, and they relaxed a little. Interesting. “Are you more comfortable knowing that Beta Aric and Niall are here?”

Brent spoke first. “Honestly, they don’t seem upset. I know how both of these men look when they are upset, Alpha.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You’re an observant one. Good. What about you, Sloane?”

“I agree with Brent. But Niall isn’t ranked, so I’m guessing we are here for an assignment?” he questioned.

I smiled. “Yes, an assignment of sorts.”

They sat a little taller in their chairs, ready to take their marching orders. I smiled. This is exactly what I want. I want a team that knows how to be a team and will follow my lead.

“Good. As I said, this wasn’t easy for your ranked team. In the end, we just couldn’t decide.”

“For fuck’s sake, bro, just tell them,” Adrian said, and I laughed.

I held my hands up. “Fine. Fine. “ Way to spoil my fun, brother.” I smiled and then continued, “We couldn’t decide.” We think you are both excellent for the role, and we decided to expand it to two lead warrior roles. One for each of you. What do you think?”

Both of them had the same reaction as Niall. I smiled widely.

“Yes!” they both said in unison.

“I’m glad to hear it. Now, the reason we chose two over one is to coordinate missions. If one is going to take more than forty-eight hours, it might go to you, Sloane. If it’s less, then it might go to you, Brent. At least until your mate can handle taking care of your pup by herself. She will also have help when you are on missions. If Sloane is in that position later, we will do the same for him.”

“Thank you so much, Alpha,” Brent said.

“Thank you, Alpha. We won’t let you down,” Sloane added.

We all smiled, and I started explaining to them about my upcoming trip with Kaia and that I would likely be gone for a week. I also told them that we are going to announce the appointments at dinner tonight and then hold the ceremony before I leave. Once the details were finished and the three had left my office, I turned to Adrian and Aric.

“That was fun,” I said.

Aric smiled, “Very fun.”

Adrian was the one who turned the conversation, however. “I think it’s time we talk about the blood pact, Isaiah.”
