Thalia POV
It’s been a couple of days. We managed to save a few warriors. We couldn’t save them all, though, not without their mates present. The mates of the ones who were saved were all crying tears of joy and relief. Those warriors are still being treated and tested at the hospital. Tio wants as much data as possible for documentation purposes.
Nyx is on edge today. We know Julian will be here. I pulled everyone in. I opened the pack link so all the warriors can hear me. Aiden fully supports me talking to everyone in this capacity. Typically, he'd make this announcement, but today, I am.
With the pack link open and pack members around me, I begin. “Everyone, I want to first start by honoring those who gave their lives for our pack during the first battle. We are trying to save as many as we can, and we are still working on saving lives. To those whom we could not save, you are forever in our hearts. Your mates, pups, and family will be looked after. Our souls hurt that you are no longer with us, but your deaths will not be in vain.”
I feel love and sympathy being pushed around in the pack link, and it warms my heart, so I continue. “Now, I’m sure you are wondering why we haven’t allowed anyone to come back yet. The reason is simple. This is only the first battle of this war. I am dead set on making the next battle our last one. I don’t want to lose any other warriors, and I want the man responsible for this war dead.
“When the next battle begins, there will be more casualties unless we get eyes on Julian Ortega. Aiden and I circulated his picture to the warriors before the first battle. I want constant sight on him. As soon as you have eyes on him, alert me immediately. The pack link will stay open. He doesn’t leave this pack a second time alive. He gets turned to ash!”
Everyone around me starts howling and cheering, and so does the pack link. I can feel the hype and surge of energy. I keep going.
“Everyone, wear your gloves; have them on. I will scream into the pack link to release its power when the moment happens. I don’t want a single one of those maws surviving. They are tainted by Julian’s venom. They must all be eliminated.”
Once again, roars and howls echo everywhere. Pride is surging through Aiden and me. Our pack is loyal. They are not going to let anyone come into our lands and try to erase our existence. We are made of better stock than that, and there is no way we are going to let Julian disrupt our world.
Aiden and I go back to the hospital. Warriors are starting to get discharged. Rory and Jonah are back at the pack house. Renz and Lacey are with them. But Mom and Dad are still in the hospital. Dad still hasn’t woken up. Mom hasn’t left his side at all.
“How is he doing?” I asked after hugging Mom.
She smiled, but it wasn’t a happy smile. “He is getting the best nap of his life.”
“I’m sure he will agree when he wakes up.”
“Raul said that, with his age and injuries, Cronos is having a harder time healing him. Roxie feels it too. We are trying hard to help him recover faster, but your uncle said there was nerve damage, organ damage, and he lost a lot of blood. It’s a lot to heal for wolves our age.”
Aiden looks like he might cry. He places his hand on Mom’s shoulder. “He’s going to come back, Mom. You’ll see. Once this war is over, we can all sit with him a while and push some of our strength into him to help his healing.”
Mom smiled and patted Aiden’s hand. “From your lips to the Moon Goddess’s ears, Aiden.”
After a couple of hours, and making sure Mom ate some food, we headed out. Dad’s recovery is going to be a long one, from what Mom told us. I hope once this is all said and done, we can help him wake up again.
