Chapter 190 Forget It Ever Happened
Chapter 190 Forget It Ever Happened
Felicity gave him another quick, happy peck on the cheek.
“Alright, I’ll let you get some rest. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Only after the door clicked shut did Silas feel the world finally settle into silence.
His phone buzzed with an incoming text.
Silas glanced at the screen, then hurled the phone across the room.
It was a message from Jasmine, telling him she’d filed for divorce online.
She added, “Bring the transfer agreement tomorrow at three. I’ll meet you at the office.”
After hitting send, Jasmine felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Margaret pushed the door open, holding something that stood out at a glance. Ethan’s watch! Jasmine was both delighted and surprised. “You actually found it!”
“I was cleaning today and spotted it wedged between the couch cushions,” Margaret explained. “You must’ve dropped it there without noticing.”
Jasmine pulled Margaret into an excited hug.
“This is perfect, Margaret! Thank you!”
Now she could finally explain things to Ethan.
“Then return it to Mr. Brooks quickly,” Margaret said. “Something this meaningful must not be lost again.”
Jasmine looked down at the watch in her palm. She thought about texting Ethan, but hesitated.
He hadn’t reached out these past couple of days. Was it because of what happened…?
Did he think she’d overstepped?
Or maybe…
Margaret’s voice broke through her thoughts.
“Why don’t you call Mr. Brooks right now? Your mom mentioned she was hungry, so I made some oatmeal. It’s the perfect time-you could invite him over to join you.”
She added meaningfully, “He’s been running around helping you out so much lately. The least you could do is offer him a warm meal.”
That last point nudged Jasmine past her hesitation.
“Okay. I’ll text him.”

Ethan saw the message after coming out of his shower. A towel was wrapped around his waist, and water was still dripping from his hair. His firm muscles and perfect lines radiated an unmistakable sensual
tension.
Reading the text, he stilled for a few seconds.
Finally, he typed back, “Okay.”
Twenty minutes later, Ethan arrived.
Margaret went to open the door happily. “Mr. Brooks, come in quickly. Miss has been waiting for you for a long time.” Jasmine’s face fell flat. That was a bit much.
But in those twenty minutes, Jasmine had done quite a lot of mental coaching for herself. She kept telling herself that when she saw Ethan in a moment, she absolutely had to act the same as always, as though nothing had happened. She absolutely had to greet him the same as always. And yet…
When he walked in, Jasmine couldn’t manage a single word. She just ducked her head and pretended to focus on her oatmeal.
Ethan took a seat across from her at the table.
“Your hair’s about to dip into your bowl.”
Jasmine quickly looked up and brushed her hair back.
Their eyes met, and she suddenly choked, coughing into her napkin.
Ethan waited quietly for her to finish coughing. “If seeing me makes you uncomfortable, I can leave.” For some reason, those words gave Jasmine an inexplicable twinge of discomfort. “No! It is that I feel too ashamed to face you.”
Ethan handed her a fresh napkin.
“Why would you be embarrassed?”
Jasmine took a steadying breath.
“About what happened last time… I just…”
Ethan’s eyes were soft and gentle, as composed as though nothing had ever happened. “Last time was simply unavoidable. It was not what you intended. If anything, it is I who should be apologizing.”
Jasmine blinked. “Why you?”
Ethan paused and did not continue. Should he tell her that he had nearly been unable to hold back and had wanted her? Perhaps not. He truly did not want to make things strained between the two of them.

“Can you promise me something?” Ethan asked after a moment.
“Of course. What is it?”

“Forget what happened last time completely. Let us go back to being the way we were before, friends who confide in each other. Would that be all right?” That was precisely what Jasmine had been waiting to hear.
“As long as you’re okay with it, I am too.”
A faint smile touched the corner of Ethan’s mouth.
“Why wouldn’t I be okay with it?”
Only then did Jasmine dare to glance at the cut on his lip.
