A thought flashed through her mind: if Yvan were here, he would beat back every single person who was bullying her.
The doctor, seeing he couldn't stop them, told Luna to call security immediately while he dialed the police on his own phone.
When the intruders saw him making the call, they scrambled out of the room. By the time security arrived, they were long gone.
"Dr. Spencer, are you alright?" Luna asked, walking over and putting on a show of concern.
Winifred's face was pale. She shook her head. "I'm fine."
The doctor approached. "Dr. Spencer, don't worry, I've already called the police. I will also report this to the administration. They were completely out of line."
"Thank you." Winifred lowered her gaze.
"What happened?"
Yvan's voice suddenly cut through the air.
Winifred looked up and saw Yvan standing before her, holding a food container.
For some reason, the strength she had been desperately holding onto shattered in an instant.
Her eyes reddened, and she fought back the urge to cry.
Yvan hurriedly put down the container and placed his hands on her shoulders. "What in the world happened?"
Winifred knew she was losing her composure, and she shouldn't be like this in front of Yvan.
She forced the tears back and shook her head. "It's nothing, just a small incident."
Yvan's lips tightened as he surveyed the chaotic room. The bouquet he'd bought her was trampled into a mess. A surge of anger rose within him, but it was mixed with a deeper sense of disappointment.
Whatever had just happened was clearly not a "small incident." But she was unwilling to tell him, which meant she still saw him as an outsider.
"Are you Dr. Spencer's boyfriend?" the doctor asked. "A group of thugs came in here making a scene. They didn't just verbally abuse Dr. Spencer, they also stole her things. It was outrageous."
Yvan's face darkened. "Don't you have security here? Why didn't you call them?"
A thought sparked in Luna's mind. Boyfriend? So they really were together.
The doctor was a bit displeased; Yvan's tone sounded like an accusation. "We didn't expect them to be so brazen. It all happened too fast. But we did call the police."
