How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 107

Yvan asked, "What did they take?"

"Some gifts. The ones your mom and sister brought, and some from my colleagues," Winifred replied.

"Well, that's nothing too valuable," the officer said. "Don't worry, we'll—"

"So if it's not valuable, you're not going to do anything about it?" Yvan cut him off. "No matter how little it's worth, it's still robbery."

The officer looked at Yvan again. "Sir, we never said we wouldn't handle it."

"Then how do you plan to handle him? Don't just lock him up for a day or two. That's useless," Yvan scoffed.

The officer was annoyed. "What kind of attitude is that?"

"Am I wrong?" Yvan pointed at Winifred. "That man injured her yesterday, and today he's out and brazenly storming into the hospital to harass her again."

The officer's face tightened. "We are acting according to the law—"

"According to the law?" Yvan challenged. "What law is that? The one that protects criminals?"

The officer's face turned ugly, and he looked ready to argue, but his partner stepped in. "Sir, everything we do is based on legal precedent. The patient did not cause serious harm yesterday, and the hospital chose not to press charges. The most we could do was detain him for a few hours, issue a warning, and fine him."

"So what about this time?" Yvan sneered. "Another few hours and a warning?"

The officer replied, "They stole property. They should be detained for a few days."

York was taken aback by the unfamiliar voice. "Yes, I am. And you are?"

"I'm a friend of Dr. Spencer's," Yvan said coldly. "I'd like to know how you plan to handle this harassment incident."

York replied, "That patient is just being unreasonable. We believe he's just trying to extort money. We've already communicated with him, telling him to either provide actual evidence of his claims or take legal action. But he's unwilling to do either, so there's not much we can do."

"So what are you going to do about them repeatedly harassing Dr. Spencer?"

"There's not much we can do about that either. We can only send security to intervene when he shows up, or call the police," York said. "When you run into a persistent troublemaker like this, the person involved is just unlucky."

"Not much you can do? Is that your official position on this?" Yvan said coldly. "Your employees work diligently and conscientiously, and when something like this happens, they're just supposed to consider themselves unlucky? You're a pathetic excuse for a leader."
