How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 149

Karen then asked, "Has Yvan been bothering you lately?"

Winifred paused, thinking about the events of the past few days. She dodged the question. "I'm leaving soon. He won't be able to bother me even if he wants to."

Although Yvan had threatened to follow her to Riverside City, Winifred didn't really believe him.

His company was headquartered in Zion, the Brown family was here—it wouldn't be so easy for him to just pick up and leave.

Karen frowned. "I doubt he'd dare to bother you too openly anyway. I heard the Brown family is planning another marriage alliance with the Holmes family."

"Who did you hear that from?" Winifred's head snapped up.

"A friend from high school," Karen said. "We had a reunion, and one of our classmates, whose sister is friends with Ms. Holmes's best friend, said she heard it directly from her. The Holmes family wants to arrange another marriage with the Browns. Yvan is the only one in his generation who's not married. Who else could it be?"

Winifred froze.

Yvan and Teresa. Were they really going to end up together after all?

She'd heard Teresa's father was a titan in the investment world. If they were to marry, it would be a true union of powerhouses.

Teresa might seem like a spoiled heiress, but that didn't matter. She had the family background, the beauty, and she was several years younger than Yvan. Even if Yvan didn't like her at first, he would eventually compromise.

So, he had decided to give up on her after all. No wonder he hadn't contacted her in the last few days. He had found someone new.

Winifred came to this conclusion, but instead of relief, she felt an indescribable bitterness in her heart.

Karen was still talking. "It's a good thing you didn't say yes to Yvan back then. How could a rich playboy like him ever be serious about a girl from a normal family like us? One minute he's chasing you, acting like he can't live without you, and the next, when a better opportunity comes along, he'll drop you without a second thought to marry some debutante."

Winifred said nothing.

With no patients, Winifred was alone in the clinic. She opened her laptop and started watching a variety show.

She desperately needed the noise to drive away the complicated thoughts swirling in her mind.

Meanwhile, at the Brown family estate, the house was filled with warmth and cheer.

Yetta's home was in the same exclusive Willow Creek Manor as the main Brown family estate, so the two families had decided to have Christmas dinner together.

The elder Browns, Wright's parents, Yetta's family of three, and Yvan—a large family of eight—were gathered around a massive rosewood table, laughing and talking in high spirits.

Only Yvan was quiet, his expression neutral. Thankfully, he was usually reserved, otherwise Wright's parents might have thought he wasn't happy to have them there.
