How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 154

Caught, Winifred blushed slightly. "I wasn't…"

"Oh, really? It's written all over your face," Owen said, a playful smile on his lips. "Dr. Spencer, do I really look like a bad guy? Or has someone been bad-mouthing me to you?"

Winifred wondered if he was a mind reader. "No, really," she said awkwardly. "I just don't know you that well yet. We've only met a couple of times."

Owen's smile returned. "Oh, I see. Well, that's easily fixed. We'll just have to hang out more, and you'll see I'm not a bad person. I might be a player, but I don't force anyone into anything, and I certainly don't break the law."

Winifred quickly finished her cake in a few bites. "Mr. Turner, thank you for the birthday cake. I should be getting back now."

After the photo was taken, Owen walked her to the door. He watched until she turned the corner before a knowing look crossed his face and he went back inside.

With Winifred gone, Owen's friends started teasing him without holding back.

"Owen, is that the woman you're chasing? Not bad."

"How far have you gotten? Have you kissed her yet?"

Yvan zoomed in on the photo. Winifred and Owen were standing close together in the center.

She was holding a gift box and smiling shyly, but she looked happy.

Yvan's ankle, which he'd injured when Winifred pushed him down the stairs, was still bothering him, making him limp awkwardly. So he hadn't gone to see her.

He couldn't believe that in just a few short days, she and Owen had gotten so close. She had even gone to his birthday party.

Was that gift box her present to Owen?

Did she even remember when his birthday was? It was next week. But given their current situation, there was no way she would celebrate it with him.

Jealousy, heartache, and anger surged through him all at once. He clenched his fists, crumpling the document on his desk into a tight ball…
