How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 177

After seeing Steven off, Winifred went back into her apartment.

Looking at the bowl of braised pork on the table, she picked up a piece to try it. But as soon as she bit into it, her brow furrowed, and she rushed to the kitchen to spit it out, quickly rinsing her mouth with water.

What kind of culinary disaster had Fitch made? The pork was salty, sweet, and had a strong taste of vinegar all at once.

It seemed Fitch couldn’t cook either. She thought as much; with his polished, professional look, he didn’t seem like the type who would know his way around a kitchen.

The next morning, as promised, Steven drove to Summit View and called Winifred. “Winifred, I’m downstairs.”

“Okay, I’ll be right down.”

Winifred grabbed her bag and keys and hurried out the door.

Yvan watched Winifred get into the elevator on his phone’s security feed, and he immediately got into the next one.

But when he reached the entrance of the complex, he saw Winifred get into a car parked by the curb.

Yvan’s eyes narrowed and his brow furrowed.

Wasn’t that the same car from last night? The same man’s car?

Were they moving that fast already? Even commuting to work together?

Yvan followed them in his car.

At a red light, his car pulled up alongside theirs.

Yvan saw Winifred pick up a ravioli with a small skewer and hand it to Steven.

Even though she wasn’t feeding it directly to him, the sight was still painful for Yvan to watch.

In the other car, Winifred seemed to sense something and suddenly turned her head to look in his direction.

The tinted windows prevented anyone from seeing inside his car. Yvan stared fixedly at Winifred until a honk from behind urged him to move. He turned his head forward and stepped on the gas.

“What are you looking at?” Steven asked.

“It’s strange. That feeling of being watched just came back,” Winifred said with a frown.

Steven glanced around. “You’re probably just stressed out from the promotion review.”

“Maybe.”

Winifred frowned.

The woman herself had an ordinary background: a nursing major with only a bachelor’s degree, who also worked at the same hospital after graduation.

They had dated for seven or eight years and lived together after graduating. But a year ago, his girlfriend’s father was removed from his position due to corruption charges.

Six months later, his girlfriend attempted suicide by slitting her wrists and was hospitalized. The incident became major news throughout the hospital.

The rumor was that Steven wanted to break up with her, but she refused and used suicide to threaten him.

After that, the status of their relationship was unclear. However, Steven claimed they had broken up, citing incompatibility.

Yvan stared at the file, lost in thought.

His gut told him this Steven was not a good person. He wanted to break up right after the girlfriend’s father fell from power. It couldn't be a coincidence.

How could he let Winifred get involved with such a heartless opportunist?

But how could he warn her that Steven was bad news?

That evening, after work, Yvan again saw Winifred coming home in Steven’s car.

It was like this for several days in a row. Sometimes they would even go out for dinner together.
