How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 189

Steven looked at Rena with contempt. “You know that was in the past. Rena, right now, you’re nothing but an ugly mess to me. Take a look in the mirror. How could you possibly compare to Winifred?”

Rena staggered back. “Steven, you’re such a bastard!”

Steven said coldly, “It’s not that I’m a bastard; it’s that you’re sick. Rena, we’ve already broken up. Don’t you see you're acting like a crazy woman?”

Rena’s lips trembled. “Steven, you’re calling me sick! You’re calling me a crazy woman!”

“You didn’t know? Everyone at the hospital knows you’re sick,” Steven said coldly. “I’m warning you, don’t you dare do anything to Winifred. If you do, I won’t let you get away with it!”

With a final warning glare, Steven turned and walked away.

Rena’s hands clenched into tight fists, her eyes burning with furious hatred…

...

Winifred and Molly hailed a cab and headed for the Riverside Arena.

In the car, Molly asked casually, “Winifred, what did Dr. Lopez say?”

Winifred replied, “Nothing much, just some things about the senior consultant review.”

Molly’s eyes flickered. “He seems pretty concerned about you. You don’t think he’s still holding out hope, do you?”

Winifred lowered her gaze. “I don’t know.”

“Well, don’t go getting soft on him,” Molly advised. “Did you know who showed up while you and Dr. Lopez were talking?”

“Who?”

“His ex-girlfriend, Rena,” Molly said. “She definitely heard your whole conversation.”

Winifred paused, then said, “Even if she did, it doesn’t matter. Steven and I didn’t say anything compromising.”

“That’s where you’re wrong,” Molly warned. “The doctor who got coffee thrown on her wasn’t really involved with Dr. Lopez either. They were just talking more frequently because they were collaborating on a patient’s case, but that was enough for Rena to get suspicious. So, Winifred, you should be careful. If you see her, stay far away.”

Winifred was a bit skeptical but didn’t dwell on it. She had already rejected Steven. If Rena did approach her, she would simply explain the situation.

She wondered why he wouldn’t just confess his feelings to Winifred directly instead of doing all these things in secret.

Winifred had no idea any of this was happening.

If a man ever did something like this for her, she would be moved to tears and would agree to date him in a heartbeat.

Yvan’s entire focus was on Winifred.

They were separated by three seats. He had wanted to sit directly behind her but was afraid she would spot him, so he had chosen this spot—close, but not too close.

This was the first time in over three months that Yvan had been this near to her. He greedily drank in the sight of her profile, trying to etch her image into his memory.

When she smiled, he couldn’t help but smile too.

As long as she was happy, that was all that mattered.

Towards the end of the concert, there was an interactive segment where the singer would randomly select a lucky fan. The chosen person would get to go on stage for a photo, an autograph, and even sing a duet with the star.
