How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 201

That day after work, Molly mustered up the courage to call out to Winifred.

"Winifred, where are you headed?"

"Do you need something?" Winifred replied coolly.

Ever since her true motives for getting close to her were exposed, Winifred had been much colder toward her.

Molly felt guilty and had wanted to explain herself several times, but she never found the courage.

This time, she finally worked up the nerve and approached her.

"Winifred, I want to apologize," Molly said, fidgeting with the hem of her shirt. "Can we talk?"

Winifred glanced at her watch. "If you have something to say, say it quickly. I have a blind date soon, so I don't have much time."

"What? You're going on a blind date?" Molly's eyes widened. "Who are you meeting?"

"Lily set me up," Winifred shot her a mocking glance. "What, are you going to run and tell Yvan and his friends again?"

"No, no, I'm not in contact with Fitch anymore," Molly quickly waved her hands. "Winifred, Fitch only asked me to get close to you because he didn't want you to fall into Dr. Lopez's trap. He just wanted me to give you a heads-up. I couldn't bear to see you get caught up in the mess with Dr. Lopez and Rena, and Fitch was paying me, so I thought it was a way to kill two birds with one stone, and... and I agreed."

Winifred's face was stern. "So you only approached me for the money. All that kindness you showed me before was just an act."

That was what bothered her the most. She had thought she’d made a good friend, only to find out the person had gotten close to her for money. The thought of it made her skin crawl.

Molly waved her hands and shook her head frantically. "No, that's not it. I admit I first approached you for the money, but after spending this time with you, I genuinely consider you a friend. I never really told them much, just a bit more about the Steven situation."

Winifred huffed. "What about the concert? You all conspired to trick me, didn't you?"

Molly pouted. "We did plan the concert thing together, but I didn't think it was a bad thing at the time. Mr. Brown is really into you and wanted to cheer you up, so of course I agreed. I didn't know you were so against him. I'm sorry, Winifred."

"Alright, I have to go to my date now," Winifred said, pulling her arm away.

Molly blurted out, "Winifred, what kind of person are you meeting? What does he do?"

The moment the words left her mouth, she realized her mistake and quickly explained, "I'm not trying to pry. I was just curious. You don't have to tell me, and if you do, I promise I won't tell Fitch or anyone."

Winifred said, "It's fine. He works for the city council."

"Working for the city council is great! It's a cushy job with good benefits." Molly smiled and gave her an encouraging thumbs-up. "Good luck, Winifred!"

...

Yvan was growing anxious at home.

Ever since Winifred found him out, he hadn't dared to follow her to and from work anymore.
