How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 200

“Now that it’s applied, we’ll bandage the wound. Miss, come over here and learn how to do it,” the nurse said, picking up a roll of gauze. “Sometimes we get busy and can’t come right away, so you can bandage it for him yourself. Like this, not too tight, but not too loose either…”

As the nurse explained the procedure, Winifred couldn't bring herself to object and just listened. It wasn't until the nurse left that she put on a stern face. “I’m going to find a caregiver for you. Let them handle these things.”

Yvan hesitated. “But tonight, I thought you were…”

“Tonight? What about tonight? Did you think I was going to stay here and take care of you?” Winifred scoffed. “I only let Steven think that to get him off my back. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

That tiny flame of hope in Yvan’s heart was instantly extinguished.

It was already nine o’clock at night when Winifred got home.

Queena suddenly called. “Winifred, the village mayor just called me. Someone offered a high price to buy our entire village for tourism development. Every household will get a share of the money. Are you free in the next few days? If so, you should go back and sign the papers. I can’t get away from here.”

Winifred was slightly surprised. Oakwood City was a tourist destination, but her grandmother’s village wasn't particularly remarkable. Why would a developer choose it?

She said, “What are the specific dates? Let me check.”

Queena told her the dates. Winifred checked her work schedule; she could manage to take two or three days off, so she agreed.

She also wanted to take the opportunity to find out more about the developer's plans for the project.

Winifred went back to Oakwood City and learned that the developer who bought their village was a tourism development company. They said they wouldn’t tear down and rebuild, but simply carry out some renovations. Their plan was to create the look of a historic village to attract tourists.

Villagers could choose to continue living in their old houses, or if they preferred, the company would build new homes for them.

Winifred was thrilled. Was this a blessing from heaven?

She had thought her grandmother’s house would be demolished and her only connection to her would be gone. She never imagined a developer would buy their village and want to turn it into a historic site.

Fitch quickly explained, “You may not know this, Ms. Spencer, but Mr. Brown rented this apartment in my name and paid a full year’s rent upfront. If we were to leave now, we wouldn’t get the money back. So Mr. Brown told me to just live here for the full year.”

“I see,” Winifred said sarcastically. “I’m surprised the great Mr. Brown would care about a year’s rent.”

“Mr. Brown has never been a wasteful person; he’s very frugal,” Fitch said with an apologetic smile. “Ms. Spencer, it should be alright for me to be your neighbor, right?”

“Yes, of course. As long as it’s not Yvan,” Winifred nodded. “Besides, you and I get along just fine. I’ve always been dealing with you, haven’t I?”

“That’s good,” Fitch nodded repeatedly.

The two rode the elevator down together. After they parted ways, Winifred gritted her teeth.

Yvan was blatantly planting a pawn right next to her.
