How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 226

Even if the statute of limitations had passed, she wouldn't let them get away with it.

If they thought she would hand over the house, they were dreaming.

Winifred stood up, her voice firm. "I won't argue with you about the child support; that's between you and my father. But as for transferring the house deed, you can forget it. What my father left for me is mine. I will never give it to you, not even in death."

Fiona, hearing this, grew desperate. She immediately started wiping at her eyes, squeezing a single tear. "Winifred, we're sorry about what happened to your grandmother. We never thought she'd be so fragile. We didn't mean to kill her. It was an accident."

"As for the house, it's not that I want to fight you for it. It's just that your uncle's family is struggling and can't afford a place in the city. I'm getting old, and spending winters in the village is going to be the death of me. You're a dentist, making a fortune every year. Do you really need this little bit of money? Please, just take pity on me and let me have the house."

Winifred laughed coldly. "Struggling? The house my father left me is being rented out, isn't it? It brings in a couple hundred dollars a month. You've been collecting that rent for over a decade, lining your own pockets. And what about the redevelopment in the village? Your family stands to make at least eighty thousand from that, right? Fiona, how dare you stand there and tell me you're struggling?"

Furious that she knew about the redevelopment payout, Fiona dropped all pretense and lashed out. "Winifred, have you no shame? No conscience? I am your biological grandmother! Not only do you call me by my name, but you're fighting me over a worthless old house?"

"That's right. No matter what, she's your grandmother," Hannah said sarcastically. "You haven't given her a single penny of support all these years, and now you're trying to take the house she needs for her retirement? You're a disgrace."

Winifred scoffed. "Weren't you the one who just said that since I changed my name, I'm not a Collins? So why should I care about a Collins' retirement? You didn't spend a dime on me or lift a finger to help when I was growing up, and now that I'm an adult, you want to guilt-trip me? You've certainly got it all planned out."

Seeing that emotional blackmail wasn't working, Darren stepped in front of her, rolling up his sleeves. "Winifred, I'm telling you, you're going to transfer this house whether you like it or not. Otherwise..."

He raised his fist. "...you can't blame me for getting rough."

He knew Winifred had always been timid, so he was deliberately trying to scare her.

Behind her, she could hear the furious curses of Fiona and her son.

"Winifred, you just wait!"

"You want the payout? In your dreams!"

...

Winifred ignored them, her gaze hardening with resolve.

She was no longer the little girl who would cry after a few harsh words.
