“Yvan, don’t. I’m sleepy,” Winifred murmured, her eyes still closed.
“I want you,” Yvan breathed into her ear. “Winifred, I want you.”
“No, we agreed to a week of abstinence,” Winifred said, tilting her head to avoid his lips.
“A week would kill me. I can’t even last half a day,” Yvan said, kissing her neck. “Wini, I miss you like crazy after just a few hours apart.”
His hand slipped under her shirt.
“Yvan, you…” Winifred meant to be angry, but her voice came out as a tremble.
Yvan always had a way of making her lose herself in him.
...
“Wini, was I good?” he asked in her ear.
Winifred replied, “...Mhm, you were good.”
“So, still looking for that younger man?”
A muscle twitched in Winifred’s cheek. She had only said it offhandedly, but this man had taken it to heart.
It was true what they say: you can never criticize a man in this department.
She’d been careless with her words and vowed never to say something like that again.
Winifred cupped his face and kissed him firmly a few times. “Nope. You’re the best! The best in the whole world.”
Yvan's expression changed at her words, and he redoubled his efforts…
As a result, Winifred’s back and legs felt even more sore.
She was practically limping in the afternoon.
Lily saw her. “Winifred, your leg looks even worse. That hike must have been intense.”
“Haha, I guess I don’t exercise enough,” Winifred said awkwardly, mentally cursing Yvan a hundred times over.
Yvan’s voice was ice-cold. “I’ll say this one last time: Winifred is the woman I love most, and I will protect her for the rest of my life. You are not to bother her again. You’d better pack your bags and get back to Zion. Otherwise, the partnership between our families is off the table.”
Teresa stared at the disconnected call, a mix of shock, rage, and jealousy swirling within her.
She hadn't expected Yvan to be so protective of Winifred.
That woman must have been filling Yvan's head with lies.
And forcing her to leave Riverside City must have been her idea, too.
Teresa thought bitterly, If she thinks she can make me leave, she's dreaming!
As for the partnership between their families, she didn't care. She was the apple of the Holmes family's eye, with several older brothers to handle business matters. She never concerned herself with such things.
After hanging up, Yvan had Eileen send someone to keep an eye on Teresa. If she hadn’t left Riverside City by the next day, he would terminate the partnership with Jason’s company.
Having done all this, he sat down at his desk and opened a sketchbook. Inside was a rough draft of a ring design.
