How to Train Your Ex-Billionaire novel Chapter 249

Seeing Winifred’s sudden silence, Yvan felt a wave of unease. “Winifred, are you thinking about leaving me again?”

“No…”

“Then what are you hesitating for?” Yvan caressed her face. “Winifred, we haven’t used protection these past few days. I’m with you with the intention of marrying you. In my heart, I already see you as my wife.”

Winifred pulled away from his embrace, avoiding his gaze. “Yvan, I’m not hesitating. I’m just scared.”

“Scared of what?” Yvan asked nervously.

Winifred turned away. “We’re too different, in every way—our families, our personalities. I’m afraid we won’t be compatible in the long run.”

“You’re still worried about that,” Yvan breathed a sigh of relief. He gently turned her back to face him. “Winifred, let me ask you, do you love me?”

Winifred looked at him and nodded.

“Let’s think about it differently. The fact that you love me and I love you proves that we’re attracted to each other for a reason,” Yvan said. “Seven years of distance couldn’t make us forget each other. Doesn’t that prove that those differences don’t really matter?”

“But we never really lived together before. There might be differences we haven’t even discovered yet.”

“Then I will be patient with you,” Yvan said. “I’m willing to compromise and be patient with you, because I love you.”

“So it all depends on you still loving me,” Winifred said with a bitter smile. “But what if you don’t love me as much in the future? Will you still be as patient and doting as you are now?”

“I will always love you,” Yvan said, his tone firm.

But Winifred’s expression was skeptical. “Yvan, nothing lasts forever.”

Even familial bonds could change, so how could love be eternal?

A successful marriage was built on more than just love; it was about compatibility.

Take her parents, for example. Hadn’t they loved each other once? But in the end, for various reasons, that love had faded, and they had separated.

Her mother and Hunter certainly had love between them, but it wasn't an all-consuming passion. They were compatible, and that's why they could build a life together.

Although Winifred wasn't in their social circle, she had attended high school in Zion and worked there.

If she tried hard enough, she was certain she could find something scandalous about Winifred’s past.

Just as she sent out her request, she received a call from her father, Jason.

“Teresa, are you in Riverside City right now?”

Teresa’s eyes darted around guiltily. “No, I’m… I’m in Wye.”

She hadn’t dared to tell Jason that she had followed Yvan to Riverside City, only confiding in her mother.

“You’re still lying!” Jason fumed. “Do you have any idea that Yvan’s assistant just called me? Said you went to Riverside City to harass his girlfriend. Now Yvan is furious and wants to terminate our families’ partnership.”

“What? He’s really going to terminate the partnership with our family?” Teresa was shocked.
