Lira’s POV:

“Elder Wilson, go ahead. What is it?”

He frowned, looking really serious. He stayed quiet for a bit before he spoke slowly. “I have a friend who got really sick out of nowhere. I asked all the best doctors in the Pack Alliance, but he still isn’t getting better.

“His identity is a little special, so I want you to go treat him secretly.”

Chester’s friend had to be just as powerful as him. If I could make him like me, it would only help me in the Silverwhip Pack. Besides, healing people was always the rule for our Hidmoon Pack.

I thought for a second and nodded right away. “Sure, let’s go tomorrow.”

When he heard I agreed, Chester seemed to relax a little. His face softened. “Great, a private plane will come pick us up tomorrow.”

“A private plane? It’s not in the Silverwhip Pack?” I asked, confused.

“No, it’s in the Brookstone Pack.”

“Brookstone Pack?” My back tensed up right away.

How many years had it been since I went back to that place–the place where all those nightmares happened…

I hung my head and didn’t say anything for a long time.

Chester looked at me, worried. “Lira, what’s wrong?”

I snapped out of it, forcing a smile. “Nothing. We’ll go tomorrow then.”

After I left Wilson Manor, I sat in the car, staring at the night outside the window. I felt all mixed up.

I never thought I’d step foot in that place again so soon…

The next day, Chester and I got on the private plane and headed to the Brookstone Pack.

An hour later, the plane landed on a tarmac, and a car was already waiting nearby.

The car drove right in, no stops, and pulled into a manor.

Every view here looked like a beautiful painting–grand and impressive. It was way nicer than the Alpha’s mansion I used to live in.

I lived in the Brookstone Pack for so many years, and I never knew a place like this existed.

The car finally stopped in front of the main gate of the manor.

A servant ran over fast and opened the car door.

I got out and looked around calmly.

As soon as I stepped out, Lily felt scared for once. Victoria tensed up too, on guard.

This place seemed simple, but it wasn’t. The servants walking around looked like ordinary Omegas, but they walked steadily and moved fast–only high–rank wolf soldiers trained in the military could move that way.

I also noticed cameras everywhere, hidden in every corner. You could tell how tight the security was.

Chester walked over to me. He saw I was quiet and serious, so he thought I was nervous. He patted my arm gently. “Don’t be nervous. I believe in your healing skills.”

I just smiled and said nothing.

Then we followed the servant into the living room inside the manor.

The furniture was simple, no extra decorations. The maroon floor had marks from use, but it was wiped completely clean.

There were a few portraits on the wall–you could tell what the owner liked.

In the living room, a middle–aged couple sat on the sofa. The man looked sad, holding a half- smoked cigarette between his fingers. The woman’s eyes were red–she had clearly been crying. A few other people stood nearby, comforting them every now and then.

On the way here, Chester told me a little about the Hicks family.

Gabriel Hicks was the former top leader of the Brookstone Pack’s Elder Council. He stepped down years ago. His actual status was even higher than my father, the Alpha.

I heard about him when I was little.

His oldest son, Matthew Hicks, and second son, Stephen Hicks, both worked in the military now. They were top Gamma commanders.
