I spoke calmly. “I’m sure all of you know how bad Elder Hicks’s condition is. Basically, his blood can’t get to the important parts of his body. On top of that, his wolf spirit has almost no energy left to fix his body. That’s why his organs keep failing.”
Patrick nodded once I finished. “That’s exactly it. Elder Hicks’s organ failure is really severe. With our werewolf clan’s current medical skills, we can’t do anything more. We can only use medicine to keep him alive.”
Matthew asked, panic in his voice, “Ms. Krom, do you have a better way to help him?”
“Ms. Krom, please. We’ll do anything you ask. Please save my dad,” Stephen begged, his voice breaking as he looked at me.
I looked at their worried faces and felt a little twinge of emotion. This kind of family love was something I’d always wished for.
Chester also asked, anxious, “Lira, you can save him, right?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I learned a set of needle therapy from my master. It can help him get back to normal bodily functions, boost blood flow, relax his brain blood vessels, and get more blood to his brain.
“Also, my wolf spirit has natural healing energy. It can wake up his wolf spirit, so his body can fix itself.”
“Really?” Matthew perked up. “Can you really cure him?”
I spoke calmly and confidently. “Yes. But I need to tell you the truth first. I know this needle therapy, but I’ve never used it before. So you have to think it through.”
I was totally sure I could do it, but I still had to tell them the real deal. That way, there wouldn’t
any trouble later on.

The Hicks family looked at each other and then turned to Patrick.
Patrick looked at me calmly and asked, “Ms. Krom, how sure are you?”
“Ninety percent,” I said, playing it safe.
Patrick turned to the Hicks family and said, “We should give it a shot.
“After all, Elder Hicks’s condition is this bad already. Even without the needle therapy, he’s not

going to wake up. We might as well try–maybe we’ll get lucky!”
Stephen nodded hard. “We’ll try. No matter what happens, we’ll try.”
Matthew looked worried. “But what if something goes wrong?”

Stephen looked at him, his eyes red. “Matthew, this is our only hope. Can things get any worse than they are now?”
Then he turned to me and begged, “Please, Ms. Krom. Do what you can.”
I looked at Stephen and said confidently, “Don’t worry. I’ll give it everything I’ve got.”
Matthew also looked at me seriously. “Lira, we’re counting on you.”
I nodded, then walked over to the bed and pulled out all the tubes stuck in Gabriel.
A few doctors tried to stop me, but one sharp look from me made them stop in their tracks.
I opened my backpack and took out the medical needles.
As soon as I pulled out the needles–glowing blue with energy from my space–the whole bedroom got really cold, really fast.
Everyone stared at the needles in shock, watching me nervously.
I ignored their scared or doubtful looks and focused on putting the needles in. I pricked them into Gabriel’s acupoints one by one.
At the same time, I quietly put Victoria’s energy into the needles.
My movements were smooth and quick. The doctors and the Hicks family were all stunned, staring at me.
They had no idea these needles carried the powerful energy of my two wolf spirits and space. I could cure any illness with them.
Slowly, the nine blue–glowing needles in Gabriel’s body turned black.

As time went on, they turned red, then blue, then silver, and finally back to their normal color.
Sweat kept rolling down my forehead.
I could feel how tired I was.
Even with my two wolf spirits giving me energy, saving someone who was almost dead took a ton of my strength and energy.

I gave them a reassuring look. When the time was right, I pulled the needles out quickly.
As soon as I stood up, Chester rushed over. “Lira, are you okay?”
I shook my head, wiped the sweat off my forehead, and said to Matthew and Patrick, “The next three hours are make–or–break. Watch his vital signs closely. If he wakes up, he’ll be okay.”
Matthew nodded fast.
I was really worn out, so I left first. The others stayed at Hicks Manor, waiting.
I was so tired that as soon as I got to the hotel, I lay down on the bed and slept for a full day and night.
As soon as I woke up, Chester called me.
“Lira, are you feeling better?” he asked, concerned.
“I’m fine,” I said.
He sounded relieved. “Good. Elder Hicks woke up. He wants to see you.”
I thought for a second and said, “Okay.”
After I washed up, I went straight to Hicks Manor.
This time, everyone looked at me differently–their eyes were warm and friendly, nothing like the first time.
As soon as I walked into the living room, a young man ran over to me.
