Chapter 126 A Fight

Lira’s POV:

As soon as we got downstairs, the music on the dance floor cut out. Everyone around stopped what they were doing and crowded around to watch.

Laura and Eileen stood in front of a girl to protect her. They pointed at the big, burly guy in front of her and shouted, “You jerk! How dare you pick on someone smaller? I’ll tear you to pieces!”

The guy narrowed his wolf eyes, looking mean. “Little girl, stay out of this! Hand her over, and we will pretend nothing happened. If not, we’ll rough you up!”

Victoria could tell right off the bat–this guy was a trained werewolf hitman. I tensed up, kept my eyes on him, and quietly stood guard over Laura.

Laura wasn’t scared at all. She shot back angrily, “I’m not staying out of it! You can’t pick on people like this. Go ahead and try something–I dare you!”

After she said that, she turned, helped the girl up, and tried to leave.

When the guy saw them leaving, he turned to the other guys in black behind him and said, “Grab all three of them!”

Right after he said that, the guys behind him stepped up, ready to grab Laura.

I was about to jump in when a voice came from behind me. “A bunch of guys picking on a few girls? That’s real low.”

I spun around fast. Steve, Alfred, and the others were walking down the stairs.

Seeing them come over, I let out a sigh of relief and quietly retracted my wolf claws.

Laura was so excited she could barely contain herself. She yelled, “Alfred! You’re here! These jerks tried to pick on us and this girl!”

Steve and Alfred walked over, their faces cold as they stared down the big guy. Alfred said, “I have no idea what my sister has done to offend you, but you can’t pick on them.”

The alpha aura coming off him was strong.

The big guy was clearly shaken by it, but he still acted tough. “Mind your own business, or we won’t go easy on you. That woman hurt my friend–we’re taking her with us today, no matter what!”

“Oh yeah? I’d love to see how you’re gonna ‘not go easy on us,” Steve said, taking off his jacket and handing it to Sally.

The guy glared and said, “Fine, if you two wanna be stubborn, we’ll show you no mercy.”

Then he waved at the guys behind him. “Get ‘em! Make sure you grab that bitch!”

In a second, they started fighting.

Alfred shifted into his wolf form right away and joined in.

I wasn’t worried about Steve and the others–they were all pure–blood high–rank werewolves, and they could fight really well.

I calmly looked away and stared at the girl standing behind Laura.

She looked around 16 or 17, really delicate and pretty–a total innocent look. And she smelled like just a regular–rank werewolf.

But the dark glint in her eyes? It wasn’t as innocent as she looked.

When she noticed me staring, she quickly put on that innocent, simple look and hung her head.

Seeing that, I smirked. She was really good at putting on an act!

Just like I thought, Steve and Alfred took down those guys pretty fast.

All of them shifted back to human form, curled up on the ground moaning in pain.

The leader stumbled to his feet, glared at all of us angrily, and threatened, “We’ll be back! Just you wait!”

After he said that, he shot a dirty look at the girl hiding behind Laura, then walked out.

Once those guys left, the “drama queen” girl I saw through right away stepped out from behind Laura.

She spoke softly. “Hi everyone, I’m Carmen Holmes. Thank you so much for helping me today. I don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”

Then she started crying quietly.

I scoffed and stood off to the side, watching her put on her show.

Steve rubbed his arm and said to her, “No problem. But those guys said you hurt their friend–what’s that about?”

Carmen looked a little flustered and said quietly, “They tried to grab me. When I struggled, my wolf claws accidentally scratched their friend. Then they just wouldn’t leave me alone and chased me here.”

Steve stared at her hard for a second, then said coldly, “Now that you’re safe, we’ll head out.”

Then he glanced at us. “C’mon, let’s go back.”

We nodded and followed him out.

We hadn’t taken two steps when Carmen followed us out too.

Alfred drove Anna and Yolanda away first.
