Chapter 129 Office Chat
Lira’s POV:
When I walked into Kael’s office, I got kinda excited for no reason.
It was my first time in his office. The whole place was decorated in all black–simple, but fancy. Behind his desk, there was a full wall of floor–to–ceiling windows, and a few plain paintings hung on the walls.
Kael led me to the lounge area and sat me down on the sofa.
He made me a cup of coffee himself, set it next to me, then sat down beside me. He stared at me softly, and complained a little, “It’s been two days since your exam. You finally thought to come see me?”
I raised an eyebrow, took a sip of coffee, and smiled. “Kael, you look like a silly kid right now. I came the second I finished my exam, okay?
I wanted to surprise you, but I got stuck downstairs. If I hadn’t run into Leo, I would’ve left already.”
Kael laughed, reached out, and pinched my cheek. “You always got excuses. Couldn’t you just call me if you couldn’t get up?”
I swatted his hand away, rolled my eyes, and said, “That’s on you. If we had a telepathic link, you’d know I was downstairs, right?”
As soon as I said that, I realized–only fated mates who’ve bonded have a telepathic link.
Would Kael think I wanted to bond with him right now?
But even if we bonded, we might not have one. We might not even be fated mates…
I was zoning out when the phone on Kael’s desk rang out of nowhere,
Kael stood up, walked over, and picked it up.
I pricked up my ears, and I could hear Gary’s voice clear as day on the other end. “Boss, your video meeting’s in five minutes.”
I couldn’t help but admire Gary. In a business setting, he didn’t call Kael “Your Majesty“—he was really careful.
“Got it, I know,” Kael said, then hung up and sat back down next to me.
I looked at him. “You got a meeting?”
Kael suddenly leaned in, propping his hands on both sides of me, staring straight into my eyes. He said, “I got a meeting in a bit. Rest here, and we’ll go eat dinner tonight.”
I checked the time and nodded. “Okay, go do your work.”
Right then, the office door flew open.

come keep Lirá company–she’d get bored alone.”
Kael frowned, stood up, and said, “Fine, keep her company.”

Then he turned to me, kissed my forehead softly, and said quietly, “Wait for me. And don’t let this you dumb.” With that, he walked out.
Leo stared at Kael’s back, so mad he hopped a little. “He’s calling me stupid?!
