Chapter 134 A Gambling Invite
Lira’s POV:
I looked at him, confused. “What news?”

Reginald cut to the chase. “There’s gonna be a big stone gambling party at Graymarch Pack after the new year. You in?”
He took another sip of tea while he waited for my answer.
Big stone gambling parties like this were the easiest place to find rare treasures. Besides, my dual wolf spirits let me see through things with my wolf eyes-this would be a piece of cake for me.
If I found some rare gems, I’d make a ton of money. Money I could use to support Hidmoon Pack….
I thought for a second and then nodded right away. “Sure. When is it?”
Reginald smiled like he knew I’d say yes. “The 18th, after the new year.”

I held up my teacup and nodded, thanking him. “Thanks a lot.” Then I chugged the rest of my tea.
After treating Reginald to dinner, I headed straight for Hidmoon Pack.
When I got to the valley where Hidmoon Pack was, I saw familiar old lady standing at the gate. My
eyes got a little watery right away.
To me, Enid wasn’t just my savior-she was the only family I had left in this world.
If she hadn’t saved me back then, there’d b
no Lira today.
“Elder Krom, what are you doing out here? You should put on more clothes.” It was almost spring.
but it was still freezing up in the mountains.
She looked at me warmly and said, “I knew you’d be back today. I had nothing to do, so I came out to wait.
“Lira, Elder Krom has been asking nonstop since morning when you’d get here,” Derek, the butler, said, taking my luggage and smiling. “She almost sent someone to pick you up at the pack border. She got so impatient, so she came out here herself.”
I walked over to Enid, linked my arm through hers, and acted cute. “I missed you so much.”
Then I hugged her tight.
She stroked the top of my head, smiling. “I missed you too. I hope you can finish your business outside soon and come back to take over Hidmoon Pack.”
Once we got inside, I told her everything that’d happened over the past six months-including what went down with the Golder family in Fragrance Pack. But I kept quiet about getting hurt.
I was fine now, and I didn’t want to worry her.

Enid’s face turned a little serious. “Oh well, you’ve repaid that debt. Now just let things be. Edward, as t Alpha of Fragrance Pack, was a great man in his day. It’s a shame his family produced such rotten appl his old age.”
I poured her a glass of water and handed it to her. “I’m okay, really. Edward will handle his family’s problems. Don’t stress about it.”
She took the glass, her voice a little low. “Lira, always remember-you have to have a line you won’t cros
“If someone crosses that line, don’t hold back. I want you to live freely, not like a caged animal. No matte who they are, if they make you feel wronged, you fight back!”
Her words hit me hard. I knelt down in front of her, holding back tears, and choked out. “I know. I’ll follow your advice. I won’t let anyone wrong me again.”
Back in Brookstone Pack, since I was just an Omega, everyone told me to hold back. I told myself to hold back too. But in the end, things ended so badly for me.
But now? With my dual wolf spirit awakened, I had a special mission. I’d never hold back again-not against anyone or anything that crossed my line!
Days at Hidmoon Pack were always cozy and nice. I let Sun out too.
When people asked about him, I just said I found a wild fox in the forest.
Sun ran up the mountain every day, wandering around. He looked so happy, so I just let him be.
I still studied medicine and pack management with Enid every day. In my free time, we played chess. drank coffee, and talked about the little things that happened to me in Silverwhip Pack.
Time flew by when I was at Hidmoon Pack. Before I knew it, Christmas Eve was here.
Derek and the servants had already put up all the Christmas decorations and gifts.
I got in the mood and joined them while they decorated the Christmas tree.
Christmas was right around the corner, so I took out my phone, planning to call Kael first.
I dialed his number, but no one answered. I was about to hang up when a flirty woman’s voice came through.
“Hello? Who’s this?”

Chapter 135 A Tricky Call
Lira’s POV:
I checked the number on my phone-it was definitely Kael’s. But why was a woman answering it?
I got annoyed for no reason, my mood turning sour fast.
The woman’s voice came again from the other end. “Are you looking for Kael? He’s in the shower right now. He can’t come to the phone. If you got something to say, tell me-I’ll pass it on later. Her voice was all soft and flirty.
I hung up right away, no second thoughts.
I trusted Kael, sure. But I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me. My heart hurt a little, like someone was pinching it.
I let Victoria take over my body right away, then ran back and forth through the forest to let off steam…
Third-Person Perspective:
At that moment…
Inside the presidential suite at the Austin Hotel, Thunder Pack…
Jessica Ibarra looked at the phone in her hand, a satisfied smile pulling at her lips.
She deleted the call she’d just answered and put the phone back on the table, exactly where she’d found it.
If Lira had been there, she would’ve recognized this woman-she was the only female among the top executives who’d walked behind Kael in the Empire Group building, back in Silverwhip Pack.
Just then, the bathroom door opened. Kael walked out wearing a dark gray bathrobe, fresh out of the shower. His bangs were damp, falling over his forehead. He looked less intimidating than the Lycan King he was, but way sexier.
Jessica stared at him, completely lost in him. The first time she’d seen him at a party, she’d known-he was the one she wanted.
He was a pure-blood noble descendant, the top male werewolf. Her wolf spirit, just like her, craved to mate with him.
Growing up as the daughter of the Alpha of Havenwood Pack, everything had always gone her way: So she thought, naturally, that he should be hers too.
She’d worked so hard to get close to him-she’d joined Empire Group, worked her way up to proje director, and finally made it to the top executive team.
She’d thought being close to him would make him notice her. But then, out of nowhere, a girl showed up -just a lowly Omega!
How could she accept that?

Finishes
This business trip-she wasn’t supposed to come. But she’d begged Gary to let her come, saying she was the project leader.
She’d thought she’d get more chances to be near Kael. But she couldn’t even get close to him.
If she hadn’t run into Gary earlier-he’d been supposed to bring the documents in, but he’d had an emergency. She’d jumped at the chance to take his place.
That’s how she’d gotten into the presidential suite. As soon as she walked in, she’d heard the phone ringing. The screen said “Lira”-she’d guessed it was that girl he treated so softly. Jealousy had filled her up, crazy with it.
So without thinking, she’d answered the phone and said those words, just to stir up trouble…
Kael saw the woman suddenly in his room. His face turned dark right away. His wolf eyes glowed as he stared at her, his voice cold as ice. “Who told you you could come in?!”
His harsh words snapped Jessica out of her thoughts. She quickly looked away from him, stammering. “Gary had an emergency. He asked me to bring the documents.”
Kael glanced at the documents on the table, then put away his wolf eyes. But his gaze was still sharp as he looked at her. “Put the documents down and get out. And don’t let this happen again.”
Jessica’s face turned pale, like all the blood had drained from it.
Her heart hurt so bad that she could barely breathe.
She was a noble alpha’s daughter. She’d left her pack and come here alone to work for him, just to get close. Had she worked this hard for nothing? Couldn’t he see how good she was? Couldn’t she attract him?
She took a deep breath, forcing a smile. “I’ll leave now.”
She hurried toward the door.
She knew she couldn’t rush it. Even though Kael had that girl around, she was sure-with her looks and status, Kael would choose her in the end.
He’d have to be crazy to pick a lowly Omega as his mate.

Chapter 136 Christmas
Lira’s POV:
Ever since that call, I hadn’t hit Kael up at all,
He tried calling me a couple times, but I just let it go to voicemail-no way I was picking up.
I couldn’t even explain why. Deep down, I knew I should trust him. But every time I grabbed my phone, my hand froze, and I’d set it back down like it was burning me.
Christmas Day rolled around, and I had a huge, fancy dinner with Enid, Derek, and a few others from the pack.
After we ate, we passed around gifts and chatted it up-laughter was bouncing off the walls the whole time.
I sat out in the yard, staring out at the empty mountains, and my mind went totally blank-in a good way. Calm, peaceful, like nothing could bother me.
This place? It’s the only spot where I could stop putting on a front and just be me.
My phone kept dinging with messages, and I didn’t even have to check to know what they were- Christmas greetings, all of them.
I fired off quick replies to every single one, then pulled up Twitter.
