Howl of Destiny: Alpha Lira’s Legend

Chapter 164 The Alpha’s Territory

Lira Voss’s POV:

Finished

I didn’t back down. I bared my own teeth and glared right back at her. “He’s your Alpha, not mine. If you don’t like the way I talk, tell him to let me go.”

She growled, her fangs extending as she prepared to lung, but Leroy barked a command. “Scarlett, stand down! Miss Krom is my guest.”

He turned to me. “Miss Krom, I apologize for Scarlett. Don’t mind her. It’s not that I don’t believe you; just wanted to be certain.”

I

Leroy Trotter was a strange one. Despite the kidnapping, he actually had the manners of a proper Alpha. His subordinates, on the other hand, were brutal and crude-classic examples of why the Darknight Pack had such a filthy reputation on the Maynard Continent.

I let out a dismissive snort and didn’t bother arguing with Scarlett.

Since the cave was a bust for now, I headed toward the exit.

I’d seen what I needed to see. Now I wanted to scout the surrounding area. Since I was already here, maybe I could find a few ‘surprises’ of my own.

The group followed me out. Leroy decided we’d camp outside the cave to monitor the progress, which was perfect for me. It gave me more time to plan.

I told Leroy I wanted to take a walk in the woods. He hesitated.

I crossed my arms and stared him down. “Still thinking? I’m just an Omega. It’s not like I can outrun a pack of Alphas. Are you really that afraid of me?”

Leroy’s dark eyes searched mine, weighing my words.

Scarlett spoke up, her voice flat and icy. “You should stay put, Miss Krom. This is deep wilderness. It’s dangerous. You’re a low-rank Omega with no way to protect yourself. If you get into trouble, do you expect our men to waste time saving you?”

I ignored her completely, keeping my eyes on Leroy.

A subordinate like her wasn’t worth my breath.

I looked at Leroy, waiting for his response.

Leroy unbuttoned his suit jacket. “You can walk around, Lira. Just don’t go too far. This is the borderlands, there are rogue wolves and outlaws everywhere. It’s not safe for a low-rank werewolf”

With his permission. I turned and walked away.

Chapter 164 The Alpha’s Territory

Scarlett watched Lira disappear into the trees. “Alpha, you’re not worried she’ll make a run for it?”

Leroy popped the cork on a bottle of wine and poured a glass, swirling the liquid. “Scarlett, you’re too tense. She’s a low-rank Omega. Where is she going to go? She can’t outrun us,”

“Just tell the men to keep working. My granduncle arrives tonight. Go meet him.”

Back in the Silverwhip Pack.

Kael Thorne stood by the window, his face like a thundercloud as he stared at the city.

Gary stood behind him, reporting in a low, respectful voice.

“My King, the girl talked. She had a grudge against Miss Krom and wanted revenge. She agreed to help those people kidnap Sally and Virginia to use them as leverage.
