Howl of Destiny. Alpha Lira’s Legend
Chapter 49 Poison and Payback
Lira’s POV:
I heard his threat, stood my ground cool as a cucumber, and scoffed. “You’re gonna mess with me?
“I’d like to see you try. Why don’t you just call the top inspector from the Pack Alliance over here?
Finished
“On my way here today, someone jumped me. I haven’t gotten around to calling the cops yet. Might as well let them dig into it–who knows what crazy stuff they’ll uncover!”
I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow like it was no biggie.
When Rick heard that, his face went pale in a heartbeat.
Panic flickered in his eyes. He opened his mouth to say something else, but I pulled a needle out of my bag and jabbed it into Gladys’s throat quickly.
Before anyone could even blink, I pulled the needle out and stepped back to my spot.
Gladys pointed at her throat in shock and screamed at me, livid, “What did you do to me?!”
She narrowed her wolf eyes and glared at me like she was gonna shift and tear me to shreds on the spot.
“Nothing much. Just a little accident. You’re feeling fine, right?”
I scoffed, then turned to John, who looked totally stunned. “C’mon, John. We’re done with their little charade. Time for me to see the patient.”
With that, I headed straight up the stairs.
John snapped out of his daze right away and trailed behind me.
My sharp ears picked up Rick comforting Gladys from behind. “Don’t stress. Even if Lira knows a little medicine, she’s just an underage Omega. What could she really do? She was just faking it to scare us.”
Third–Person Perspective:
Michael Brewer, who’d been standing in the corner watching everything quietly, cracked a sarcastic smile.
No joke–everything that went down today was insane.
He never in a million years would’ve guessed that the doctor his grandpa invited was Lira.
And what shocked him even more–this woman, who was only an Omega, had such cruel tricks. She was nothing like how she acted at school.
Lira’s POV:
I followed John into the master bedroom, sat by the bed, and felt the old man’s pulse carefully.
John stared at me, not even blinking. When he saw me pull my hand back, he asked, all anxious, “How’s it

look, Ms. Krom? What’s wrong with Mr. Brewer?”
I thought for a sec and then said, “He’s been poisoned.
Finished
“He had some health problems before, but nothing serious. This poison put his wolf spirit into a weird hibernation. His organs are failing fast because they can’t get healed by his wolf spirit’s energy–and the poison’s already spread to his lungs.
“If you’d waited one more day, he’d already be dead.”
When John heard that, he muttered under his breath angrily, “Those sons of bitches!”
After that, he looked at me. “Ms. Krom–can you fix him? Before he passed out, he said he’d say yes to any request if you could heal him.”
I spoke coldly. “What do you think? Now that I’m stuck in this mess, I’ll give it my best. But I’m also waiting for him to wake up and give me answers for all the crap that ruined my mood today.”
With that, I pulled some needles and a box of medicine out of my bag.
I drew the medicine into a syringe, found the right spot on Paul Brewer carefully, and injected every last drop into his body slowly but steadily.
A minute later, Paul’s face suddenly turned bright red, and he looked like he was in agony.
John stared at his face nervously, then gave me a look like he was doubting me.
I stayed calm. “Go get a basin and some clean towels. You’ll need to wipe him off in a minute.”
He just stood there, spaced out–worried about Paul but also second–guessing me.
“Hurry up!” I snapped at him.
That’s when he finally bolted out.
