Chapter 56 False Accusations
Lira’s POV:
“Oh my god! That lowly Omega did something so trashy, and she still has the guts to show her face!”
“For real? She even dared to steal Barbara’s chosen mate!”
“She looks so innocent on the outside, but who knew she’s this sleazy and two–faced?”
“Yeah! She needs to stay in her lane. How dare she mess with Barbara–the Alpha’s daughter!”

I heard all the talk around me. I just frowned a little, then headed straight for the food line like nothing
was up.

Laura narrowed her wolf eyes in anger, glanced around, and turned to me. “Lira, these people are ridiculous! What are you gonna do about this? I’ll get my brother to help if you want.”
I patted her shoulder calmly. “No need. Trust me, someone will sort this out sooner or later.”
Then we got our food and walked to an empty table together.
As soon as we sat down, I picked up a familiar smell.
I looked up and saw Virginia running over to me. “Lira! Finally found you!”
“Why are you at school? Shouldn’t you be resting at home?” I asked, confused.
Virginia sat right next to me. “I’m totally better! Your medical skills are insane–I don’t need to rest that long!
“Oh, and I saw the school forum today. Who the hell posted that thread? Saying you hit on Michael just to get ahead, calling you a useless Omega with no worth?
“Are they joking? Your medical skills are better than anyone’s! You even saved someone as big as Elder Cox. Why would you need to brown–nose anyone?”
As soon as she finished talking, Laura grabbed her hand, all excited. “You said it! Our Lira’s super pretty and has crazy good medical skills. Besides her background and being an Omega, what’s she got that Barbara doesn’t?!
“Oh right, I’m Laura Combs. What’s your name?”
Virginia got excited too, smiling. “I’m Virginia Wilson–I’m Lira’s biggest fan!”
Laura grinned. “Me too! She’s my goddess. Seeing her get talked about like that makes me so mad.”
I looked at the two of them, smiling helplessly. “Alright, that’s enough. Let’s drop the forum stuff, okay?
“By the way, Virginia, did you come here for something? It can’t just be about the forum, right?”

Virginia suddenly remembered, hurrying to say, “Oh right! My grandpa asked me to invite you to our house for a party. He says you’re our family’s biggest savior.
“He wanted to invite you himself, but I took over. So Lira, you have to come! I promised him I’d get you to say yes.”
I thought for a second, then agreed.
After all, the Four Seasons Pharmaceutical project was starting soon. This might be a good chance to meet some helpful people.
When Laura heard that, she looked at Virginia with big, hopeful eyes. “Virginia, can I come too? I’m already 18, but I still haven’t found my fated mate. I wanna go to more events–maybe I’ll meet them there!”
Virginia nodded right away. “Sure! The more, the merrier.”
We were talking when a photo got slammed down on our table.
It was a picture of me getting out of Michael’s car.
Barbara put on a sad, hurt face and accused me, “Lira, how could you do this to me?”
In a second, everyone turned to stare at me.
Anger built up in my chest. I held back Victoria’s urge to come out and tear her to pieces. I crossed my arms and stared at her, waiting for her to keep acting.
“I really wanted to be your friend. How could you steal Michael–my chosen mate? I’ve done so much for him and we grew up together. How could you hit on him like that?”
Gotta give her credit–she was a good actress. Her soft look and sad eyes made everyone around us feel bad for her right away.
Some people in the crowd even glared at me. “How could you be like this? Do you just love stealing other people’s mates?”
“For real! Barbara even stuck up for you before and didn’t look down on you for being a low–rank Omega.”
One girl bared her wolf fangs at me angrily. “Barbara’s just too nice. If it were me, I’d shift into my wolf form and bite your neck right now. Teach you a lesson and make you know your place!”
I glanced at them coldly, then scoffed.
Barbara kept right on acting, no pause at all.
Tears filled her eyes, her voice cracking as she talked to me. “Lira, just say you and Michael aren’t anything. Stay far away from him from now on, and I’ll believe you. I’ll even be friends with you–an Omega.
