Chapter 7 Departure and Arrival
Kael’s POV:
Who was she?
Why was she looking for me?
Was she working with the ones who’d attacked me?
But if she wanted me dead, why go through all the trouble of saving me first?
And she didn’t seem dangerous at all. Maybe she was just a regular werewolf.
D*mn it. If my wolf, Zeus, wasn’t forced into sleep… he could have sniffed out her rank in a second.
A dozen thoughts shot through my mind in that moment.

I was about to ask her, to test the waters. But when I turned my head, I found she’d actually fallen asleep.
It was rare to meet a girl who caught my interest. And she just happened to be looking for me. A sharp curiosity made me want to shake her awake and demand answers.
But looking at her face, peaceful in sleep… she looked like an angel. I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
I watched her instead, studying her face. Slowly, without meaning to, my own eyes closed. I leaned back against the rock and fell asleep too…
As Lycan King, I was always on guard. This was the first time I’d ever slept so soundly next to a stranger.
When I opened my eyes in the early morning light, the space beside me was empty.
A flicker of surprise went through me.
With my senses, I should have heard her leave.
This girl… she was interesting.
I picked up the small medicine bottle she’d left behind. I rubbed it between my fingers, looking for any mark, any clue.
Suddenly, I heard movement nearby. I went tense, ready.
Then I caught a familiar scent. I relaxed. “Show yourself,” I said, my voice cool.
My Beta, Gary Thorne, appeared instantly. He dropped to one knee. “Your Majesty. I failed you. I arrived too late. Punish me as you see fit.”
I just gave him a cold, sharp look. “When we return,” I ordered, “I want you to find out everything about someone.”
When I left, I kept that little bottle in my hand the whole way.

I wondered when I’d see her again…
Lira’s POV:
After leaving the Hidmoon Pack and hiking through the thick forest, I finally found the place. The Galaviz Estate, home of the Lightning Pack’s ruling family.
The Lightning Pack was one of the strongest on the continent. Because of that, the Galaviz family held a lot of sway up and down the coast.
I thought, if I could heal their Luna this time, maybe they’d help me. Maybe they could find the man
named Kael Thorne.
I’d heard the current Alpha, Glenn Galaviz, and his Luna were true mates. They were famously close.
As I was thinking, the heavy gates of the estate opened. A high–ranking steward, every bit the proper butler, led me inside politely.
When we entered the main living room, Alpha Glenn was already waiting in his chair.
He wore a smile. He seemed kind, but I could feel the quiet authority around him, the weight of leadership.
