hapter 108
Zack almost couldn’t hold it in
What was wrong with these people? Why were they all so confident?
Liam might be trash in character, but when it came to shooting, he was really good.
Five hundred million was at stake–shouldn’t they at least take this seriously?
Sophie drained the last of her juice, then licked her lips with satisfaction.
She cleared her throat. “Where are we doing this?”
Just three simple words, and the noisy heirs all turned toward her in shock
Was she out of her mind?
She was really going to challenge Liam in shooting?
A glint lit up Liam’s eyes. He quickly pointed to the nearby shooting range.
“Whoever hits the bullseye first.”
“No problem.” Sophie rose and walked toward the range.
Liam followed close behind, the rest of the heirs surging after them in a noisy crowd.
He handed Sophie a lighter bow. “This one’s better for a girl your size. Don’t strain your arms”
“Save your fake kindness.”
Not even glancing at him, Sophie picked up a bow at random and stepped into position.
Liam, convinced of his victory, didn’t mind her attitude. He carefully selected his own weapon, not noticing Sophie had already drawn, nocked, and
loosed her first arrow-
-straight into the bullseye.
“Holy shit, did I just hallucinate?”
“No way! That was Sophie?”
“She didn’t even pause to aim! Draw, release, bullseye–like lightning. That was badass.”
Liam froze mid–selection, spinning around only to see her arrow lodged dead center.
He stumbled back in disbelief, rubbing his eyes and looking again.
It was real. His heart sank.
How? Since when did Sophie know how to shoot?
“Well? Have you chosen yet?” Sophie’s tone was casual.
Liam’s grip on his bow tightened as he strode forward.
“If it’s a tie, we go again.”
“Hit the bullseye first, then worry about ties.”

Chapter 108
He said nothing more, forcing himself to focus. He took his stance, holding the pose for a full three minutes, trying to steady his breath.
The heirs watching could barely stand it, their disdain practically dripping off hem.
Finally, he loosed his arrow-
thunk!
Everyone’s eyes turned to the target.
Empty.
A few yards away, the arrow was sticking upright in the grass.
For a second, silence reigned. Then laughter exploded.
“No way! Did Liam just miss completely?”
“My six–year–old nephew could at least hit the board. Liam, what a total flop!”
“He was posing like he’d break records, and then–this?”
Sophie, who had been silently replaying the most painful memories in her mind to keep a straight face, finally lost it. She burst out laughing.
Liam was pure entertainment.
His eyes burned red, hatred boiling inside him as the laughter rang in his ears. He wanted to rip them all apart–but outnumbered, all he could do was cover his face and storm out.
“Sophie, you’ve gone too far!”
Lena stomped her foot, humiliated, then turned to chase after him.
But Brandon Lawson blocked her path. “Lena, aren’t you forgetting something
“I–I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She shoved his hand aside and bolted, desperate to escape before anyone dragged her back.
Celine nudged Sophie’s shoulder. “She hasn’t even stripped yet. You’re just going to let her walk away?”
Sophie shrugged. “What, you expect me to drag her back?”
There was plenty of show left to come. No need to rush.
She grabbed a small cake, settled comfortably on the sofa, and began eating.
Zack walked over, eyes alight with surprise. “Sophie, you’ve been hiding that well. I had no idea you could shoot.”
“I learned a little,” she answered lightly,
Back when she realized Liam liked shooting, she’d studied hard, practicing ineret at shooting ranges for months.
She’d always wanted to show him, but he never took her out. Four years of college passed without a chance to reveal it,
Now, as the boomerang came back to strike, she found herself thankful for heglect.
If not, she wouldn’t have had the chance to humiliate him so completely today
“You were amazing. The moment you shot, I could tell–you’ve got a pro’s tour I know a bit about shooting too. We should practice together sometime.”
