Chapter 203
“If it really is him, Sophie must be regretting everything. She ditched Liam because he was just a lowly director, schemed her way into Marcus’s bed, even got pregnant. She thought she’d become the wife of the CEO. And now log–Marcus has been stripped of everything!”
“This woman must be cursed. Liam’s career stalled when he was with her. No Marcus lost everything because of her. It’s fate!”
“Shut up already. Liora never relied on men. She’s always stood on her own talent!”
“Exactly. Did you eat crap this morning? How dare you slander her like that! ora’s talent speaks for itself–you clowns don’t get to run your menta here!”
In no time, onlookers and Liora’s fans were at each other’s throats online.
Sophie wasn’t in the mood to watch the chaos. She shut her phone and turned to Marcus.
“We’re really just going to walk in like this?”
“How else?” His smirk carried a teasing edge. “What, should we wear masks?”
“I’m not joking.” Sophie’s tone sharpened. “If we show up today, we’ll draw all the attention. Before, reporters held back because of your status. Now that you’re just a civilian, showing up at the old man’s event, they won’t show you any mercy.”
“Afraid they’ll hurt me?”
Marcus’s lips quirked higher. “Sophie, are you worried about me?”
“I am,” she admitted without hesitation. “I’m worried about you.”
The grin spreading across his face was pure triumph, as if he’d just won a war.
“Relax. The CEO’s chair isn’t Liam’s to take.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“My old man’s a control freak. He doesn’t trust anyone. Liam’s not even blood, and he has no real ability. The old man would never hand him that seat.”
Marcus spoke as though the matter barely concerned him.
“But you’re his only child. If bloodline matters, he has no other option but you. And if it’s ability–no one in Riverland can match you.”
Marcus arched a brow, playful and mocking.
“Half right. But don’t be so sure about the bloodline.”
Her brows knit. “You’re saying…he might have a hidden illegitimate son?”
The car stopped. The driver stepped out and opened the door.
Marcus gestured outside. “Let’s go see for ourselves.”
Sophie followed him toward the press conference entrance.
Outside, dozens of reporters without access to the main hall swarmed the gate hoping to catch scraps.
The moment Marcus appeared, they froze in shock–then swarmed like locusts surrounding him and Sophie. Cameras flashed, microphones shoved forward.
“Mr. Morgan, weren’t you in France with Miss Chandler? When did you return to Riverland? Does the old man know you’re here?”

Chapter 203
“Mr. Morgan, are you back to reclaim Morgan Group? Do you still have hidden ards to play?”
“Mr. Morgan, you were famous for avoiding women Why give up the Group for one? Is it because of her pregnancy?”
More voices piled on, louder and harsher. Some even broke through the bodyguards, pressing right up to tim
Marcus swept Sophie into the circle of his arm, shielding her belly, his present like a wall between her and the chaos.
He showed no sign of weakness. Even stripped of title, his aura was impossible to ignore.
For the first time, Sophie fully understood what he had said before,
It wasn’t Morgan Group that made Marcus who he was.
It was Marcus who made Morgan Group.
He caught her staring, tilted his head down.
“Something on my face?”
“N–no.” Sophie turned quickly, cheeks burning.
Busted for staring, she wanted to dig a hole and disappear.
Marcus’s lips curved. He was enjoying this far too much.
The reporters, emboldened by his calm, pressed closer, blocking his path.
“Mr. Morgan, please tell us-”
Marcus’s eyes narrowed. He glanced at the mic logo.
“Radiance Media?”
His voice was soft, almost bored.
“Go tell your boss he can file for bankruptcy.”
The reporter’s hand trembled on the mic, but desperate for a headline, he pushed on.
“Mr. Morgan, you’re no longer CEO. Surely you don’t still have that kind of power? Or…do you? Is today the day you take back Morgan Group?”
Marcus’s laugh was low and sharp.
