Chapter 205
“Given that the former CEO acted selfishly and inflicted heavy damage on Morgan Group, from today forward Marcus is officially removed from his position. As the majority shareholder, I will reclaim every share in his hands!
The old man paused, stealing a nervous glance at Marcus.
He didn’t believe Marcus had come today to simply sit still. Ite had to guard against him, defend every angle–he could not allow his son to derad this press conference.
Marcus lounged in his seat, eyes glinting with open disdain as a wave of bodyguards rushed out.
Sophie noticed them immediately. “These men…they’re all his?”
“He’s terrified of me.”
Marcus leaned back with a crooked smile.
“But too bad for him–I only came to watch the show.”
“You’re really not going to do anythin
Sophie pressed, frowning.
After today, Marcus would officially be cut off from Morgan Group. If he made no move, would that mean he’d given it up for good?
“Doing nothing is doing everything,” Marcus murmured, eyes narrowing with amusement as he watched the old man’s panic.
“His imagination will become his deepest fear. When this ends, he’ll realize I never even lifted a finger. And then, every desperate move he made against me today will look like a joke.”
He glanced sideways at Sophie.
“Don’t you think that’s entertaining?”
Sophie bit her lip. “It’s entertaining…but are you truly ready to let Morgan Group go? There’s really no other way?”
“A free performance should be savored,” Marcus replied smoothly. “No sense rushing the clowns off stage.”
Sophie could only fall quiet, forcing herself to watch the drama unfold.
The old man, seeing Marcus still seated, pressed on.
“Next, allow me to introduce the new CEO of Morgan Group–Mr. Gideon Morgan!”
The crowd buzzed as Gideon stepped out from behind the curtain.
He was tall–over six feet–but lanky, his bespoke suit hanging awkwardly off his frame. His shoulders curled inward, his posture faintly hunched. Instead of confidence, he radiated unease.
He reached his uncle’s side, taking the mic. That was when the audience truly saw his face.
He looked thirty or so, with heavy brows and wide eyes. And when he stood beside the old man, the resemblance was undeniable–their features were carved from the same mold.
Sophie sucked in a sharp breath. “Don’t tell me…he really is the old man’s illegitimate son.”
Marcus’s expression didn’t flicker. “Who knows.”
The reporters noticed it too but none dared ask. Everyone present had signed contracts spelling out exactly which questions were permitted. Break the rules, and the penalty fees would ruin them.
Chapter 205
“Hello, everyone. I’m Gideon Morgan, and from today I will serve as the new CEO of Morgan Group. I hope I can count on your support. Thank you.”
His words were polite–too polite. The old man frowned, displeased.
A Morgan CEO wasn’t supposed to sound deferential. Ile was supposed to donate.
The journalists froze, caught off guard by his meekness.
The old man gave a soft cough, shooting him a warning look.
Gideon straightened his back in a forced show of bravado.
“Enough words. Time will prove everything.”
He hurriedly tried to retreat, but the old man clamped a hand around his arm glaring at him until Gideon froze, fidgeting with his fingers like a scolded child.
“There is one more important announcement today,” the old man declared, pulling the spotlight back to himself.
“Thanks to our new CEO’s relentless efforts, Hills Corporation has agreed to a long–term partnership with Morgan Group. Specific contract details will be released on our official website. Please stay tuned.”
The hall erupted in shock.
Hills Corporation–one of the most powerful conglomerates in the world. Their industries dominated globally. It was said that one in every three products in a person’s home bore the Hills name.
Their CEO was a ghost–never seen in public, never even glimpsed by his own assistants. Some had camped in skyscraper lobbies for a month and never secured so much as a handshake.
And now… Gideon had supposedly secured a deal?
