I Ctrl+Alt+Deleted My Ex and Ctrl+C'd His Uncle novel Chapter 24

**Through Silent Meadows We Trace Stories Left Behind Yesterday by Asa Rowan Flint**
**Chapter 24**

Sophie found herself utterly unprepared for what was about to happen. One moment, she was enjoying the lively atmosphere of the gathering, and the next, her feet slipped out from under her, sending her tumbling into the shimmering pool below.

As she plunged into the frigid water, it enveloped her like a thick, icy blanket, the shock of the cold stealing her breath away.

Panic surged through her as she thrashed about, desperate to find her way back to the surface. But the truth hit her like a heavy weight—she couldn’t swim!

“Help… help…” Her voice was a mere whisper against the deafening sound of splashing water. She flailed her arms, her heart racing as the chilling liquid filled her nose and mouth, each gulp of air slipping further from her grasp.

Was this how it would end? Would she drown here, beneath the surface, lost to the world?

And what of her baby? The thought pierced through her fear, a sharp reminder of the life she carried within her.

“Lena, help me!” she cried out, her voice strained and desperate, each word a struggle to push through the water’s grasp.

Lena stood at the edge of the pool, her voice trembling as she shouted back, “Sophie! I can’t swim! I’ll get someone, just hang in there!”

Yet, despite her desperate words, she remained frozen in place, her eyes wide and unblinking, watching Sophie’s frantic struggle with an unsettling calm.

With every ounce of strength she could muster, Sophie reached out, grasping for Lena’s ankle.

“Pull me up!” she gasped, the water closing in around her like a dark shroud.

Startled by the sudden contact, Lena instinctively jerked her leg back, inadvertently kicking Sophie hard in the head.

The blow sent a jolt of pain through Sophie, who was already fighting against the encroaching darkness. In a moment of instinct, she grabbed onto Lena, pulling her down into the depths alongside her.

“Sophie!” Lena screamed, her voice a mix of fear and confusion.

Just as Sophie felt her consciousness slipping away, a familiar voice cut through the chaos like a lifeline.

“Marcus!” she thought, her heart swelling with a flicker of hope.

He had arrived, and without a moment’s hesitation, he dove into the pool, slicing through the water with purpose.

Gently, Marcus laid Sophie down on the ground, his hands shaking as he slapped her cheeks lightly, desperation creeping into his voice.

“Sophie! Wake up!”

But there was no response, only silence hanging heavily in the air.

His expression darkened, worry etching deep lines across his forehead.

Without hesitation, he pinched her nose shut, leaning down with determination in his eyes.

He pressed his lips to hers, initiating mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the act shocking those around them into silence.

Gasps echoed through the crowd.

Wasn’t Marcus known for keeping a respectful distance from women? What was he doing?

“Uncle, what the hell are you doing?!” a voice cried out, the shock reverberating through the gathering as they witnessed the unfolding drama.
