Chapter 101
The atmosphere in the office felt thick with tension.
Thaha was the type to keep to herself, always distant and cold. The others didn’t really know her well and figured they could take advantage of her to stand up for Miya this time But they quickly learned that she wasn’t someone to mess with.
The sharp, unforgiving look in her eyes was enough to make anyone back off. After that, no one dared come near her
Thalia, however, was perfectly content. She just focused on her work, getting everything done without any distractions.
Later in the evening, her phone rang. It was Shyla.
Thalia picked up, her voice cold as usual. “Hey, what’s up?”
Shyla’s voice was gentle and warm. “Thalia, how about coming home for dinner tonight?”
Thalia didn’t hesitate to refuse. “I’m busy. Not tonight.”
Shyla’s voice dropped, tinged with disappointment. “I miss you. Thalia. I haven’t seen you in days. Could you please come home?”
There was a softness in her mother’s voice that Thalia couldn’t ignore.
After a pause, she sighed. “Fine. I’ll be home tonight.”
Shyla cheered up instantly. “Yay! I’ll cook your favorite meal. Just be careful on your way back.”
Got it.” Thalia said, hanging up and exhaling deeply.
She packed up, clocked out, and drove to Coleman Villa.
By the time she got there, it was already evening. The sky had darkened, with a soft golden hue lingering from the sunset.
She glanced at it for a moment before stepping out of the car and heading inside.
Mom, I’m back.” Thalia called out as she entered the house.
shyla, wearing an apron, looked up with a bright smile. “Thalia, have you lost weight? You haven’t been eating well, have you? I heard work’s been busy. How’s everything going?”
Thalia gave a faint smile. “Everything’s good.”
Shyla’s expression softened, but then she asked, “Have you and Miya been fighting lately?”
Thalia raised an eyebrow, studying her mom. “You called me back because you missed me? Or you think I’ve been bullying Miya and want to lecture me?”
You’re impossible.” Trenton’s voice came from upstairs, low and stern. “Is this how you talk to your mother? She was just asking a simple question, why do you always make it so complicated?”
Thalia’s smile faded. Looking at Trenton’s dark expression, she suddenly realized that maybe her suspicion was right. They had called her back to accuse her.
Thalia pulled her hand away from Shyla, her face expressionless as she asked, “Just tell me, what did Miya say to you?”

“Your sister didn’t say anything. Trenton said, looking disappointed. “But we know you two work together, and we know you’re probably bullying her. Thalia, can’t you be a little more patient, a little kinder, and act like a good person for once”
Thalia felt drained. She turned to Shyla, her gaze complicated as she said, “Mom, if you call me again, I’m not coming back.”
Shyla rushed forward, worry written all over her face. “No, Thalia. Your dad and I just want to look out for both of you. You’re sisters, after all. Where’s all this hatred coming from? Why can’t you get along?”
