Chapter 129
Thalia’s face went rigid, and she gripped her paddle so tight her knuckles turned white.
The sudden three million dollar bid made her think of Darion immediately.
These sapphire earrings didn’t have significant collector’s value, nor were they famous pieces with deep historical significance.
Anyone could get them for under 2.5 million, and anything higher would seem like a waste.
That was why the bidding stalled at two million dollars.
Plus, actual valuable antiques were coming up later in the auction.
But this had to be him. It could only be him.
Thalia clenched her jaw, and anger flashed in her eyes.
“Three million going once!” the auctioneer called out.
Thalia lifted her paddle. “Three fifteen!”
Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, Miya thought she finally had the earrings in the bag. But then someone kept bidding against them.
She whipped her head around to look at Darion, scared he might stop.
She said softly, “Darion, if it’s too expensive, we can just let it go. That’s a lot of money for a pair of earrings.”
It was a calculated retreat, designed to push him forward.
The dim lighting made it hard to read Darion’s expression, but he raised his paddle again.
“Three point three million!” the auctioneer announced, clearly shocked.
The crowd erupted in whispers.
What’s so special about those earrings?’ people wondered. ‘Why would anyone bid that high?’
Everyone kept looking back and forth between the bidders, waiting to see if Thalia would keep going.
Miya felt a rush of excitement but played it cool. “Darion, that’s way too much. We should stop.”
Darion’s response was calm and cutting. “Isn’t my life worth three million?”
His words left her speechless, so she dropped it.
Thalia raised her paddle again.
After several rounds, the price hit five million, and Darion showed no signs of backing down.
Thalia’s anxiety started creeping in.

Chapter 129
ppp.
Wendy came back right then, her face tight with anger “It’s Darion bidding against you. Is he out of his mind? If he knew you wanted those earrings, he’d regret this so bad!”
She turned to Thalia. “Call him. Tell him to stop driving up the price!”
Thalia let out a bitter laugh. “I called him a few hours ago and he ignored me. Then he showed up here with Miya. You really think he’d pick up now?”
“That piece of trash,” Wendy muttered under her breath. “Why doesn’t he just drop dead?”
“Five point three million!”
The price shot up again, and Thalia’s nails dug into her palms.
She’d only brought 6.5 million with her today.
