Chapter 156
Chapter 156
Thalia went straight to Wendy’s place last night.
Wendy opened the door while still gaming, shot Thalia a quick glance, then hurried back to her phone. “Why are you here so late?” she asked
Thalia walked in and said, “I missed you, so I came to see you.”
Wendy didn’t even look up from her phone, puckered her lips and blew Thalia a kiss. “Love you, Thalia baby, love you!”
Thalia was at a loss for words.
Wow, could Wendy be any more perfunctory?’
Wendy lived alone, and she was a total gamer. Her room was covered in gaming merch.
There was even a huge figurine in the corner, so detailed and lifelike it was like the character had stepped right out of the
game.
Thalia grabbed a bottle of water for herself and plopped down on the couch, waiting for Wendy to finish her game.
Wendy finally finished her game, grumbling and cursing under her breath, then plopped down next to Thalia. “So, what’s up?”
Thalia sighed. “Darion insisted on crashing at my place, but I really didn’t want to see him, so I just left.”
“Tsk…” Wendy looked totally disgusted. “Isn’t Miya’s nephew enough for him? Why does he have to keep pestering you?”
Thalia smirked. “Why don’t you go ask him yourself?”
“No way. If I saw him, I’d probably end up smacking him across the face,” Wendy said, waving her hand. “But let’s be real, he’d totally beat me up, so why bother?”
Thalia fell silent for a moment.
“Oh, by the way, if you hadn’t come over tonight, I was actually planning to look for you tomorrow,” Wendy said, her face turning serious. “Remember we were investigating that earthquake? Well, the people I sent out came back and said nobody saw you rescue anyone.”
Thalia’s expression shifted instantly. “That’s impossible!”
“I didn’t buy it either, so I kept asking. But that’s what he told me. He went around showing your picture to people from that school, and not a single person recognized you,” Wendy said, her brows knitting in confusion.
“How is that even possible? Everyone knows Miya, but nobody knows you? That’s really hard to believe,” Wendy added, still looking baffled.
Thalia’s face darkened. If nobody remembered her, then there was no one who could testify that she was the one who saved Darion.
The whole thing was so unbelievable. It just made no sense no matter how she thought about it.
Wendy said, “Maybe the earthquake hit so suddenly that everyone was just scrambling to get out, so no one really noticed you at all?”

Honestly, that’s the only explanation that fits at this point.
So why would anyone remember Miya?” Thalia asked, her expression icy.
Wendy shook her head. “I have no idea.”

With no witnesses, her claim that she saved Darion just sounded like some ridiculous story. Nobody would believe her.
But she knew it was real. She’d lived through every second of it.
Back then, I was head over heels for Darion, always watching his every move, Thalia thought. There’s no way I could’ve saved the wrong person.’
She had to get to the bottom of this, no matter what.
Looks like she’d have to go back to that mountain village.
Wendy’s expression grew more complicated as she looked at Thalia. “Thalia, there’s no point stressing out right now. Get some sleep, we’ll deal with it tomorrow.”
Thalia nodded.
Thalia barely slept a wink that night.
The next day, Thalia called Wesley Chase to see if she could take a day off.
But Wesley was having none of it. “Absolutely not. The showrunners are pushing hard, and if you bail now, who’s going to record the main character’s lines? Thalia, you’re talented and you take your work seriously, but that doesn’t mean you can just skip out whenever you feel like it.
“Are you planning to start slacking off like Miya Coleman, always disappearing from work? If you do, don’t blame me for getting tough. I’ll make sure your reputation tanks in the voice acting world!”
