“You damn troublemaker!” Sandra Blackburn snapped.

Just hearing Thalia’s words, Sandra could picture the scene in her mind, and it made her even angrier. She pressed a hand to her chest, her face so dark with fury it looked like she might keel over any second.

Thalia watched Sandra looking like she might drop dead at any moment, her tone even more indifferent. “Darion can’t follow me around 24/7. Whenever I get the chance, you can bet I’ll stir up trouble.”

“Thalia!” Darion snapped, his tone full of warning.

The vein at his temple pulsed as he glared at her, his eyes icy with a flicker of coldness.

Thalia shot him a look and said, “Shouldn’t you be checking on your grandma? She looks like she’s about to keel over. What, you wanna be the guy who kills his own grandma?”

Darion’s face grew even darker. “That’s enough.”

Thalia raised an eyebrow. ‘So you’re still not going to agree with me?

‘He can lock me up all he wants, but there’s no way he can shut me up.

She turned to Sandra. “Keith’s only three, right?”

“Darion!” Sandra snapped, her voice sharp with anger.

She couldn’t stand to hear another word of Thalia’s rebellious nonsense and shot Darion a furious glare.

But Darion just called the bodyguards in, his voice icy, and had them drag Sandra out.

“Damn you! You’re all damn troublemakers!” Sandra screamed, her face twisted with rage.

She struggled desperately, but there was no way she could break free.

The door to the hospital room slammed shut behind her.

Darion tugged at his collar, as if that could relieve the stifling pressure in his chest.

He walked over to Thalia, each step heavy, his brows furrowed in clear disappointment.

He reached out and brushed her cheek. “Thalia, stop with the tricks. Is wrecking your future really worth just to get a divorce from me? You know which is more important.”

Unless she’d gone completely crazy and was ready to throw everything away, there’s no way she’d choose mutual destruction

with him.

“Besides…” Darion’s voice grew even colder, “if I wanted, I could keep you out of jail entirely.”

Thalia’s lashes quivered at his words, and she shoved his hand away.

“All you’re doing is making me hate you even more,” she said coldly.

Darion’s lips pressed into a thin line, his gaze lingering on her, deep and enigmatic.

She always had a way of getting under his skin.

Her hips were soft, though, almost inviting.

The turmoil in his chest finally found an outlet. Suddenly, he pulled her close, gripping the back of her head, and kissed her hard.

Thalia let out a startled gasp.

She never saw it coming. One moment they were arguing, and the next, he was kissing her.

She shoved at him with all her strength, but the effort sent a sharp pain through her injured back, making her whole body shudder.

Darion released her, his brows furrowed. “Why keep fighting me? It’s only going to hurt you in the end.”

Thalia’s eyes were burning red with anger, her chest heaving.

“You’re nothing but a monster,” she snarled, cursing him through clenched teeth.

Darion barely reacted. Her words and attempts to fight him were like scratches. He barely felt a thing.

“Stay here and rest. I’ll be back later,” he said, his voice cold and detached.

“Trenton showed up at the Blackburn family’s place? Fine, I’ll make sure he gets something he’ll never forget, Darion thought coldly.

He turned and walked out, the air he left behind slowly dissipating. Thalia sat on the edge of the bed, her gaze vacant, lost in thought.

Just then, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen. Matthew Evans? She hadn’t expected him to call.

‘Didn’t he go abroad?’ Thalia thought, surprise flickering across her face.

‘Back already? That was fast, she mused, still a bit stunned.

“Hello, Matthew Evans,” Thalia answered, her voice rough and a little hoarse.

Matthew’s voice came through the line. “Thalia, I’m back in town. Are you still set on getting that divorce?” Thalia’s grip on the phone tightened, her breath quickening. “But… if you help me, he’ll come after you.” ‘I’m a rebel at heart,” Matthew laughed. “Tell me not to do something, and that’s exactly what I’ll do.”
