Thalia clenched her fists, struggling fiercely, making it clear she wanted nothing to do with him.

Darion’s breathing deepened as his dark, intense gaze fixed on her. “But it looks great on you.”

“I said I don’t like it anymore. Can’t you understand that?” Thalia snapped.

“Nope, Darion replied, his tone cool and unbothered.

Darion pulled her right up to him, his eyes flashing cold and sharp. “You used to say you loved this brand. You said you’d wear every new release, no matter what. I remember every word.”

Just like when she said she loved him, he remembered that, too.

He never forgot anything she ever said to him.

But now she was saying she didn’t like it anymore, just like that.

‘How could she just change her mind so easily?’ Darion thought, frustration simmering inside.

He wouldn’t allow it.

The atmosphere inside the car froze. Darion’s stare was so intense it felt suffocating, but Thalia honestly didn’t feel all that bothered.

Out of nowhere. Darion hit a button and the divider slid up, sealing them off from the front.

The back seat suddenly felt a whole lot smaller.

Darion took a slow breath, his voice deep and steady. “Thalia, people can’t just change overnight like that.”

Thalia’s heart ached with bitterness as she clenched her fists. “Maybe you should say that to yourself. You were the one who changed first.”

‘I haven’t changed,” Darion replied firmly.

‘I’ve told you a hundred times. It’s always been you. I don’t care about anyone else,” he said.

Thalia took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and asked, “If Miya and I were both kidnapped, and you could only save one of us, who would you choose?”

“That’s not even a real scenario,” Darion said, sidestepping her question. “You’d never be in danger.”

“See? You won’t even bother to make up a lie for me,” Thalia shot back, sarcasm heavy in her tone.

“I know it’s never going to happen, and I’d never let myself fall into a trap like that. But I just want to hear you say it, say you’d pick me. Not some vague answer. That’s not what I want.”

Darion fixed his dark, heavy gaze on her. “Alright, I’ll tell you. I would choose you.”

“And what does that even mean?” Thalia shot back with a frown. “You’re just parroting the answer I want to hear. What’s the point?”

Danion went silent.

Whatever he said, it was never enough for her.

Once again, things between them turned cold as ice.

“Let go,” Thalia said, her voice cold.

She lowered her gaze, refusing to look at him.

But Darion wouldn’t let go. He still held the bracelet, stubbornly trying to slip it onto her wrist.

This time, Thalia stopped resisting, letting him put the bracelet on without a fight.

After he fastened the bracelet, she looked up and said, “Can you let go now?”

Her pale skin and slender wrist made the purple diamond bracelet pop. It really suited her.

He finally let go of her hand. “Thalia, those scenarios aren’t going to happen. I won’t be paying extra attention to Keith anymore. I’m going to focus on us.”

Thalia didn’t say a word. She just dropped her hand and stared out the window.

The car arrived at their destination soon enough.

By now, the sky was completely dark.
