Chapter 286

Thalia shrugged helplessly. “If that’s what you think, there’s nothing I can do about it.”

She stood up and walked over to Diana, her fierce expression softening instantly. “Diana, how are you feeling today?”

Diana gave a gentle smile. “Much better than the past few days.”

Thalia grabbed a nearby apple and started peeling it, completely ignoring the furious Shyla.

Seeing their cold indifference, Shyla’s anger and hurt only deepened.

Her own mother and her own daughter, and yet both of them treated her this way!

They weren’t even half as good as Miya.

She stormed out, and the tension in the hospital room vanished the moment she left.

“Diana, do you ever blame me?” Thalia lowered her gaze and asked softly.

“Oh, sweetheart.” Diana reached out and gently stroked her face. “You’re just looking out for yourself. How could I ever blame you? Do you think I didn’t see through her reasons for coming to look after me?

“All she cares about is that woman and her adopted daughter. She doesn’t care about us anymore, so we don’t need to care about her either.”

Thalia looked up, her eyes warm and gentle. “I promise, I’ll do everything I can to keep us safe!”

Then she added, “Diana, I met Zane and Dax. Where did you find such capable people? Why haven’t you ever told me about them before?”

Diana replied. “I’ve stepped back from running things for a long time now. Zane and Dax both grew up in an orphanage. I supported them, and after they graduated, they came to work by my side, helping me run the business and take care of everything. They’re trustworthy.”

“Yeah,” Thalia nodded. “They’ve already helped me out a lot since they arrived.“

“Blame me for not realizing sooner,” Diana said, giving Thalia an apologetic look. “I didn’t know things were so tough for you lately. If I had, I would’ve sent them to help you much earlier.”

Thalia shook her head. “Of course I don’t blame you. They were the ones bullying me, but I’m not afraid of them anymore!”

Diana laughed warmly as Thalia offered her a slice of apple.

“What? That crazy girl is out of her mind! How could she even say something like that?” Trenton was absolutely furious after hearing Shyla’s story.

“Dad, Mom, I don’t want this anymore…” Miya, pale and weak in her hospital bed, pleaded softly. “Please don’t fight with Thalia. She’s your real daughter, after all. If things get too ugly, people will just blame me in the end.”

Shyla gently squeezed her hand, her voice full of concern. “This has nothing to do with you. Thalia is just making trouble for no reason. We’re her parents, after all, and she still treats us like this? That’s just way out of line!”

Trenton Coleman’s face darkened. “Looks like she still hasn’t learned her lesson from last time. This time, I’m really going to
