Chapter 423
99
Thalia lingered by the kitchen door, silent for a while, then headed back to the living room and turned on the TV.
At ten that night, a steaming bowl of vegetable noodles was served on the dining table.
The two ate quietly, saying nothing.
The spacious dining room felt chilly and quiet. They sat on opposite sides, an invisible barrier between them, neither willing to break the silence.
Once, their home had been buzzing with laughter and romance, full of warmth and playful passion.
But now, there wasn’t a hint left of what it used to be.
After finishing her noodles, Thalia looked over at Darion. “Do you want me to change the dressing on your wound?”
“No,” Darion said flatly.
He tossed the dishes into the dishwasher and went straight upstairs without another word.
Thalia enjoyed the peace and quiet. Back in her room, she called her nanny Edith to ask how Diana was doing today.
Edith stepped out into the hallway, covering the phone with her hand as she whispered, “Diana’s eating and sleeping are normal, but she keeps holding a photo and just staring at it. I didn’t dare check what photo it was.”
Thalia paused for a moment, thinking, ‘It’s probably a photo of her with Shyla’
These days, the only thing that could really affect Diana was anything to do with Shyla.
Thalia couldn’t help but worry. If Diana kept this up, she was bound to have problems.
“Keep a close eye on her. If anything happens, let me know right away,” Thalia said.
“Okay,” Edith replied.
Thalia hung up the call and sat on her bed, her gaze distant, lost in thought.
Tomorrow, she’d have to head back to Maplewood Estate to spend some time with Diana. That uneasy feeling just wouldn’t leave her alone.
