Chapter 620
Darion Blackburn and Dax rushed forward, their eyes wide with shock and disbelief at what was unfolding before them
But almost immediately, they both froze in place
The gunshot stopped, and the one who fell wasn’t Thalia. It was the man who had been holding her hostage
As he died, the man’s eyes were wide open, filled with utter disbelief.
He just couldn’t comprehend how, when everything seemed to be under his control, he was the one who ended up dead
He slowly collapsed to the ground, and for a split second, everything went dead silent.
Thalia instinctively shrank back, certain she was a goner, only to realize she didn’t have a single scratch on her.
She turned her head and saw the man who had been holding her hostage lying on the ground. Not far behind them, a man was lowering his gun.
His face was caked with greasepaint, completely obscuring his features, but his eyes were like shards of ice. He gave Thalia a chilling look, then turned and walked away.
I was that guy, the one who’d spotted her earlier!
He’d been up in the tree, his gun aimed right at her, cold and steady. But he never fired, instead, he just turned and walked
Iway.
No way… it was him who saved me?’ Thalia thought, stunned.
Wait! Thalia called out.
Seeing his silhouette retreating into the distance, Thalia spun around and hurried after him.
Bang!
But in the very next second, a bullet punched a hole in the ground right in front of her, sinking deep into the grass.
Thalia stopped dead in her tracks, her face going pale.
The man made it clear she shouldn’t come any closer, then disappeared into the trees.
Thalia”
A desperate shout rang our behind her, and in the next instant, she was swept up into a fierce hug.
His warmth washed over her, banishing the chill that had gripped her.
Darion’s breath came fast and heavy by her ear, his arms like a vise around her, holding her so tight it felt like he’d never let her go.
“You’re okay… Thank God, you’re really okay. Darion murmured, his voice thick with rehet
Darion held her tight, feeling the warmth of her body, the steady beat of her heart, and the way she gently stirred in his embrace. At last, his heart finally settled. He could breathe easy again

Chapter 620
He closed his eyes, his voice filled with the relief and ease of someone who’d just survived a close call
Thalia finally came back to her senses. She squirmed in his arms and said, “Can you let go of me?”
But Darion just pulled her even closer, like he couldn’t bear to let her go.
Thalia was practically gasping for air. “You’re holding me way too tight. It’s really uncomfortable,” she said, a bit breathless
Darion’s body went rigid, then he eased up a little.
Still, he kept his arms wrapped around her, as if she’d disappear the second he let go.
Thalia turned in his arms to face him, noticing how pale he looked. Then she wrapped her arms around him, holding him tight.
“Thank you for coming to save me,” her voice barely above a whisper.
The next second, Darion’s arms tightened around her, locking her in an even fiercer embrace.
This time, they were completely pressed against each other, their heartbeats thumping in perfect sync. His hot breath washed over the hollow of her neck, sending a shiver through her skin.
“Thalia, I swear, I could just strangle you right now,” Darion said, his voice hoarse with worry and anger.
“How could you just come here alone? Are you out of your mind? Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?”
Thalia shut her eyes, barely able to breathe. “If you don’t let go, I’m seriously about to die right here.”
At her words, Darion loosened his hold a bit. Thalia gulped in air, gasping from how tight he’d been squeezing her.
‘Mr. Blackburn, I couldn’t keep up with him,” the bodyguard said, out of breath as he hurried back.
That guy was incredibly agile, and his anti-tracking skills were top-notch. He lost me almost instantly,” he added, frustration clear in his voice.
‘Mm.” Darion replied, his voice low.
He finally let go of Thalia, but his gaze never left her, watching her every move.
