Chapter 655
“Quit calling him Darion every other sentence. This is between me and Thalia, not him. Why, you can’t survive without your precious Darion now?” Dax shot him an impatient look.
Jason glared at him. “What’s your problem? Darion and Thalia are family. They’re married. You’re just a bodyguard, and you go around calling Thalia ‘Lia. So what, Darion’s supposed to call you ‘bro’ now? Does that sound right to you?”
“Everyone’s got their own thing!” Dax retorted. “Honestly, I’m way closer to Thalia anyway. And besides, she’s gonna divorce him sooner or later. Once they’re split, they’re not a couple anymore, so what does any of this have to do with me?”
Jason bared his teeth. “Man, you really don’t know when to shut up. I oughta sew your mouth shut.”
Dax just chuckled. “Oh? The young master knows how to sew now? When did you pick up that skill? Planning to stitch up clothes for your wife someday?”
Jason was left speechless.
He was so pissed, his fists were itching to throw a punch.
Ryan Johnson cleared his throat.
‘Let’s put everything else on hold for now. Mr. Campbell, Dax, it’s up to you two to keep Thalia safe. And if you can, try to convince Natasha Riley while you’re at it.”
‘Don’t worry,” Jason said, his tone suddenly serious as he glanced at Darion, whose eyes were still wrapped in white bandages. “Darion, I won’t let you down.”
Darion flashed a faint smile. “You never have. Come on, let’s eat.”
Okay.” Jason replied.
That night, Dax and Jason had more than a few drinks. When they left, they were staggering out with their arms around each other, still bickering about who knows what.
Ryan packed up and said. “Mr. Blackburn, Mrs. Blackburn, I’m heading out. Call me if you need anything.”
Mm.” Thalia replied.
Darion simply acknowledged with a quiet hum.
Thalia headed to the bathroom and washed up quickly.
she’d stayed silent throughout dinner, feeling lost and uncertain about what the future held.
Staring at her reflection, she reached up to touch her throat again, trying to speak, but the sound that came out was still harsh and grating.
It felt as if her vocal cords had been ripped apart. She could only force out a few simple, painfully unpleasant syllables
She snapped her mouth shut, her lips, once so red, pressed tightly together, and she quickly looked away from her own reflection.
Just then, the bathroom door creaked open, and Darion slowly made his way in, feeling his way along the wall.
Thalia jumped in surprise, rushing over to steady his arm and giving his shoulder a firm pat. Her frustration was written all

over her face
Why didn’t he call for me?
Why did he come down here alone?
What if he tripped and hurt himself?’ she fretted, her heart racing.
But then Darion took her hand in his, his palm warm and steady, the heat slowly spreading and chasing away the cold from her fingers.
“Thalia, I called out to you, but you didn’t answer. I got worried something happened, so I came looking for you,” Darion said, his voice gentle.
Thalia’s pretty brows furrowed in confusion.
‘He called me?’ she thought, feeling puzzled.
‘But I didn’t hear him at all, she wondered, a bit unsettled.
