Chapter 709 A Challenge
Keith burrowed into Helen’s arms. “No, no shots. It hurts, it hurts…”
Helen held him close, her voice gentle. “Don’t be scared. Natasha’s shots don’t hurt at all. Didn’t you say you’re a little man? Guys aren’t afraid of a little pain, right?”
“Really?” Keith still looked nervous, glancing at the thin silver needle, but he still couldn’ t bring himself to do it.
Darion Blackburn spoke up from the side, “Be good and let Natasha check you, and I’ll get you a robot puppy to play with.”
Keith turned to him. “A robot puppy?”
“Yeah, it’s really fun,” Darion replied.
Keith looked at Natasha, balled up his little fists, squeezed his eyes shut, and said, “Go
ahead!”
Pfft… Natasha couldn’t help but laugh at Keith’s brave, “I’m ready to face my doom”
look.
She reached out and ruffled his hair, saying, “How are you this adorable? Relax, it really doesn’t hurt at all. I’m like a magician with these needles. If you don’t believe me, you can try and see for yourself.”
Then, before he knew it, she swiftly slipped the silver needle into an acupuncture point on Keith’s leg.
Keith sat there for a moment, still not feeling anything. He opened his eyes in surprise.” Hey, it doesn’t hurt at all.”
Natasha spun the silver needle between her fingers, a playful smile on her lips. “Pretty impressive, huh?”
‘Natasha, you’re amazing!” Keith blurted out.
Keith really didn’t feel any pain, and his fear melted away. Instead, he found himself watching her hands with curiosity.
Natasha Riley inserted a few more needles into different spots on Keith’s leg, checking each one as she went. Then she removed all the needles and said, “All done!”
Keith let out a laugh. “It really didn’t hurt!”
Darion said, “Do you want to go play outside?”
Keith’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Really? Can I go? Miss Jadiel said it’s cold outside.”
“Just bundle up a bit more then,” Darion replied, and he told Jadiel Pratt to take Keith out for some fresh air.
Chapter 709 A Challenge
Once Keith was gone, Helen couldn’t help but ask, “Natasha, is there any way to cure
him?”
Natasha’s face grew serious. “It’s not because I’m skilled. He really has no sense of
pain.”
She’d been probing Keith’s pain threshold with those needles, but he didn’t feel anything at all.
‘This is going to be tricky,” Natasha said, her brows knitting together.
Helen’s face went pale, her shoulders slumping in despair. “What are we supposed to do? He’s only three years old. Is he really going to be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life?”
Natasha said, “Helen, don’t worry just yet. I’ll keep an eye on him for a few days, do a few more acupuncture sessions, and run a full body check-up. I’ll need to see how things go before I can really say what’s possible.”
‘Okay, okay…”
Helen nodded, but her heart was still heavy with sorrow.
