Wendy’s heart skipped a beat when she heard him say that.

‘What does he mean by that?

‘Is he actually jealous of a kitten?

‘Has he lost his mind?’ she couldn’t help but think.

Quinn turned to look at her, his blue eyes once again filled with that pitiful, aggrieved look. “Look at you. You’ve only known it for less than an hour, and you’re already treating it so well.

“I love you so much, and we’ve been together for so long, but you still won’t even smile at me on your own. Baby, how could I not be jealous of it?”

Listening to his crazy talk and ridiculous reasoning, Wendy took a deep breath before finally asking, “What do you want me to do?”

Quinn snuggled up to her chest again and said, “Pet me like you do the kitten.”

Wendy immediately reached out and gently stroked his head, her touch full of affection.

A look of pure satisfaction appeared on Quinn’s face. ‘She’s finally willing to pet me,’ he thought, feeling like he’d finally gotten what he wanted.

After a while, just being petted wasn’t enough for him. He wanted more and

demanded, “Kiss me.”

Wendy reluctantly leaned in and gave him a quick, perfunctory peck.

Quinn was delighted, even with just that, and he even found Mimi a little less annoying.

Just then, his phone started ringing. He picked it up and checked the caller, then said, ” Baby, I need to take this call. You and Mimi go play for a bit.”

He planted a firm kiss on her before getting up and leaving.

‘What am I supposed to do now?’ Wendy thought, feeling utterly helpless.

‘I really just want to go home,’ she thought, her heart aching to go home.

Right now, Mimi was the only thing giving her any comfort. She clung to the kitten like it was her only lifeline.

Quinn’s cargo ships had run into trouble. His guys reported they’d been hit by pirates, and two of his most trusted men had been snatched.

The cargo on those ships was worth 100 million dollars. If he couldn’t deliver the orders on time, he’d be on the hook for three times that amount.
