Chapter 796 Convincing
Thalia’s expression was calm, her clear eyes showing no emotion as she looked at Helen Blackburn. She pulled out her phone and typed, “This has nothing to do with me!’ Helen Blackburn was anxious and blocked her way again. “Thalia, don’t be like this. We were in-laws after all, and I’ve never done anything to hurt you or make things difficult for you. Just help me this once, okay?”
Thalia frowned slightly, feeling a bit impatient inside.
‘Why should I even get involved?
‘That’s his decision to make, not mine.
‘Would my words even make a difference?’ she wondered.
Helen Blackburn pleaded desperately, her gaze softening as she looked at Thalia. In the end, Thalia’s heart softened.
She nodded and typed, “I’ll try.”
Helen Blackburn smiled, visibly relieved. “That’s great. Darion really listens to you these days. As long as you ask, he’ll say yes.”
Thalia typed expressionlessly, “Whether he goes or not is up to him. Don’t count on me for everything.”
Once the cold electronic voice from her phone faded away, Thalia turned and headed straight upstairs.
Darion was in his study, on a conference call with Ryan Johnson, when he heard a knock at the door. He looked up, turning his gaze toward the entrance.
‘Come in,” he said.
The door opened, and Thalia said, “It’s me.”
Darion’s usually expressionless face broke into a faint smile, a hint of warmth tugging
at his lips. “Thalia, how did you know I was thinking about you?”
Thalia was left speechless.
Ryan Johnson said, “Alright, Mr. Blackburn, I’ll hang up now.”
“Okay,” Darion replied.
After the call ended, he stood up, about to walk around his desk to greet Thalia.
But Thalia walked over to him and held him back.
She typed, “Don’t move. I came to talk to you about going home for the Christmas family dinner.”
Successfully unlocked!
Darion’s tone grew a bit heavier as he asked, “Did Mom talk to you?”
Chapter 796 Convincing
Thalia lowered her gaze and continued typing, “You should go back. You’re their only son now, and you should have a Christmas dinner with them. If you’re not comfortable, just let me know and I’ll come pick you up.”
Darion reached out and took her hand, his voice low. “But I want to go back with you.”
Thalia’s fingers trembled as she pulled her hand away, then continued typing, “I’m not going. If I go, the whole dinner will just be awkward. No one will be happy in that kind of atmosphere. I’d rather spend it on my own.”
Darion immediately replied, “Then I’m not going either.”
Watching his stubbornness, Thalia’s pretty brows furrowed. She spoke, pausing between each word, “You… go… back.”
Her voice was still raspy, but it was starting to sound a bit like it used to.
