I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 207

There was truly no one on earth more pathetically arrogant than him.

"Holden and Lily go to the same school. I didn't realize his class required my presence too," Hayden shot back.

Zoe stared at him in disbelief.

His justification essentially meant that his nephew, Holden, would always take precedence over Lily.

"Is that right? If Holden and his mother are so incredibly important to you, why did you even bother marrying me? Lily is a human being, not a stray puppy. If you're going to completely neglect the child you brought into this world, do you even deserve the title of a father?"

Suddenly, Hayden's hand shot out, violently gripping Zoe's throat as he slammed her hard against the wall.

The movement was so fast and vicious that Zoe had no time to react. Stars exploded in her vision, a wave of intense dizziness washing over her. She nearly collapsed on the spot.

Hayden glared at her, his eyes blazing with a predatory, bloodshot fury.

It was the first time she had ever seen him look so unhinged. He looked at her as if she had committed an unforgivable atrocity. She had no doubt that if murder were legal, he would have shredded her to pieces right then and there.

"You actually have the nerve to bring that up? Do you honestly not know how you managed to marry me? If it weren't for the sick games you played, Charles wouldn't have fled the country, and his plane wouldn't have crashed! You keep throwing the word 'brother-in-law' around, but you know damn well whose husband I originally was!"

His grip tightened terrifyingly. "Do I belong to you? You used every vile trick in the book to trap me! Keeping our marriage a secret was your own brilliant idea! Do I seriously need to remind you why you gave birth to Lily in the first place? Everything you did, every twisted word you said back thenβ€”are you just using this convenient amnesia to erase all of it?"

The muscles in Hayden's forearm bulged, thick veins throbbing against his skin. It was deeply unnerving.

Pinned aggressively against the wall, the air was forcefully crushed out of Zoe's lungs.

"Hay... den..."

She was suffocating.

For a terrifying second, she truly believed he was going to snap her neck.

She didn't even understand the root of this psychopathic rage.

Was it for Charles, or was it because he couldn't have Sienna?

Finally, Hayden released his death grip.

Zoe slid down the wall, her body trembling and entirely drained of strength.
