I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 272

Zoe had no time to play out some heartwarming mother-daughter fantasy.

"You said you were giving me the shares of Lynd Enterprises. Process the paperwork now, and I'll leave immediately without disturbing you."

Hearing this, Hayden lifted his gaze from the phone he was scrolling through on the sofa. His eyes briefly swept across her face before dropping back down a few seconds later.

It was as if their conversation had absolutely nothing to do with him.

Sienna frowned. "When did I ever say I was giving you the Lynd shares?"

Mrs. Winters hurriedly rushed over to explain.

"I said it. Sienna, we don't want anything from the Lynds. Just transfer them to Zoe later."

Then, as if a sudden thought struck her, Mrs. Winters' expression morphed into a welcoming smile.

"Zoe, the two of us haven't shared a meal in years. Truthfully, I've missed you. We are mother and daughter, after all. It's rare that your sister is here too. Taking the time to sit down for one meal isn't too much to ask, is it?"

For the sake of retrieving what belonged to the Lynd family, and hearing Mrs. Winters appeal to her emotions, Zoe hesitated. When her father was still alive, Clara had genuinely cared for her. Zoe still held the memories of those five years of genuine maternal love.

Seeing Zoe fall silent, Mrs. Winters knew she had hooked her.

She ordered the maids to serve tea and pastries. Zoe intentionally sat as far away from Sienna and Hayden as possible.

Mrs. Winters didn't bother engaging her further. Instead, she sat down, held Sienna's hand, and fussed over her life with the Thorne family. Holden had run upstairs to play video games the moment he arrived, sparing Zoe the sight of him.

Zoe felt incredibly uncomfortable, silently praying for the time to pass quickly so she could escape.

Finally, dinner was served. The maids brought out an elaborate, lavish feast.

Zoe stared at the silverware in front of her, making no move to eat.
