Timothy opened his mouth to say something, but ultimately kept it shut.

Seeing Zoe completely unharmed, Garrett finally let out a massive breath of relief. Then, he found the situation strangely hilarious.

"What did you do to him?"

Zoe frowned slightly. "Just gave him a little parting gift. That's all."

Hayden's face was thunderous as he watched Zoe and Garrett walk away. Timothy stood frozen in place until Hayden walked up to him, at which point he offered a stiff, professional check-in.

"Commander Thorne, are you alright?"

Hayden's walk was noticeably stiff, though he forced himself to stand tall, maintaining the commanding presence of a soldier. He replied coldly.

"I'm fine. I have some personal matters to handle over the next few days, so I won't be coming in. Consider me on leave."

Timothy fought back the desperate urge to laugh, feeling both amused and utterly terrified.

In all his years in this position, he rarely misjudged people.

But watching Hayden and Zoe, he realized there were truly monsters hiding in plain sight.

The few moves Zoe just used on Hayden would take standard soldiers months to master.

He was also incredibly curious about what Hayden had done to piss her off that badly.

And the speed, precision, and sheer force of that throw sent a chill down Timothy's spine.

He mentally calculated how long he would last in a hand-to-hand fight against Zoe.

He was just as curious as Timothy.

She needed to get to the hospital immediately to make sure the baby was okay.

That bastard had thrown the jet through ten minutes of pure aerial hell, practically trying to send her to the afterlife.

Thank God she was in peak physical condition. Terrified of exposing her pregnancy, she had gritted her teeth and powered through every insane, gravity-defying stunt he pulled.

By the time it was over, Zoe had miraculously managed to keep her lunch down, maintaining the composure of a highly-trained operative. But then, the bastard had the nerve to drop a sarcastic comment.
