I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 442

Hayden waited at the courthouse for a long time. Outside, the sunny skies suddenly gave way to a light drizzle.

Justice Jordan stood respectfully beside him, clutching a stack of files.

Every now and then, he would check his watch. Hayden sat perfectly still, his expression unreadable.

An hour ticked by. People and cars came and went in waves.

But there was no sign of Zoe.

“Mr. Thorne...”

If they waited any longer, it would be an hour and a half.

“Call her.”

Hayden’s patience was wearing dangerously thin. But the call went through without an answer.

Justice Jordan was at a total loss.

He couldn't even count how many times this had happened.

The divorce agreement had been revised, reprinted, and re-signed endlessly. They had made dozens of trips to this courthouse.

Justice Jordan was utterly exhausted, wishing the two of them would just buy a VIP membership here.

If they were going to cause this much drama on a schedule, why torture him?

“Call her again.”

“...”

Justice Jordan dutifully dialed Zoe’s number again. It rang endlessly, and eventually, her phone was simply turned off.

Hayden’s long fingers tapped rhythmically against the armrest of his chair.

Justice Jordan didn't dare breathe, silently waiting for the verdict.

Another thirty minutes bled away. Hayden's thumb hovered over his phone screen. He pulled up Zoe’s contact, hesitated for a long moment, but ultimately never pressed call.

Seeing him freeze, Justice Jordan felt his scalp tighten.

The year was almost over. It seemed he'd be busy with their marital drama for the foreseeable future.

“We're done waiting. Let's go.”
