I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 51

Zoe Lynd's drowsiness vanished in an instant.

Thirty million?

Deposited into her account? She actually had thirty million dollars?

"Cherry? Thirty million?" she stammered, terrified to let the woman know she had lost her memory in case the money vanished with it.

Suppressing her overwhelming excitement, Zoe feigned perfect composure. "It's hard to discuss over the phone. Shall we meet?"

The other party didn't seem to notice her caution; her tone was even a little frosty. "Alright. Where would you like to meet?"

Zoe's voice trembled slightly with joy. "I'll pick the place, of course. I couldn't possibly let you pay."

The person on the other end paused, clearly taken aback, before returning to normal.

"Very well, Ms. Lynd."

The polite tone carried a hint of reluctance.

Zoe didn't think much of it and immediately booked a table at the most exclusive restaurant in New York.

She still had half a million in her card. If she was treating someone who just gave her thirty million dollars, she couldn't afford to be stingy.

She needed to figure out exactly what was going on.

Zoe timed her departure perfectly, afraid of being seen.

Grabbing her bag, she waited until the office emptied out for lunch before sneaking away.

The moment she slipped into a cab, Hayden Thorne caught her red-handed as he returned to the building.

Colin Zachs secretly sweated for Zoe.

Lately, he too felt the boss's wife was acting strangely.

It was as if she no longer cared about Mr. Thorne.

"Colin."

Hayden's voice made Colin's heart pound.

"Did you find out who she's been seeing?"

Colin answered nervously, relieved that his thorough investigation proved Zoe had no scandalous affairs for Hayden to use against her.

"Get the hell over to Zoe's and see what she's up to."

With that single command, Colin scrambled away.

Spying on the boss's wife again. Was he hired as an exceptional assistant, or as a private investigator for infidelity?

Zoe arrived at the cafe in a frantic rush.

A woman in a tailored white suit was already seated.

Seeing Zoe, she immediately stood up. "Ms. Lynd."

Her posture was respectful, but her expression held a trace of disdain.

Zoe paused for a second before walking over.

"Cherry?"

The woman nodded. Zoe quickly slid into the booth across from her.

"Which card did you transfer the thirty million to? Let me check the balance."
