Sylvia stood completely stunned after Nita's departure. Had she heard that correctly? Were those really the words of a grandmother?

Having hit a brick wall at the Kendall estate, Nita furiously dialed Hayden's number.

"Did you know Holden was assaulted by that wretched girl, Lily?" she shrieked. "Where the hell are you? You weren't anywhere to be found when I was at the hospital! Are you just going to leave your brother's child to die?"

Nita was completely out of her mind with anger.

Hayden had only just arrived at the hospital.

He had immediately sought out Holden's attending physician. After getting briefed on the situation, the doctor confirmed there were no major issues. Holden had simply lost too much blood and would need some time to wake up.

Sienna, however, didn't get to see Hayden until a grueling five hours after Holden's accident.

She had been waiting in near total despair.

Hayden stayed by Holden's bedside for two solid hours.

When Sienna finally got the chance to be alone with Hayden, her racing heart began to settle.

Watching him scoop Zoe up and carry her into the car earlier that day had nearly shattered her into pieces.

"Hayden," she whispered, her voice trembling. "I was so terrified Holden was going to leave me all alone. I wouldn't be able to survive without him."

Tears welled up in her misty eyes, threatening to fall but never quite spilling over. It was a perfectly calculated look of stubborn vulnerability—the kind of delicate beauty that would spark fierce protectiveness in any normal man.

But Hayden's attention remained entirely fixed on Holden. Desperate for connection, Sienna slowly leaned in, trying to close the distance between them.

Just as she did, Hayden stood up. Sienna stumbled, awkwardly pitching forward and nearly face-planting onto the hospital bed.

She had hoped to use her grief as an excuse to fall gracefully into his arms. In this emotionally charged atmosphere, she was certain Hayden would hold and comfort her.
